More web-series reviews… A Man on the Inside – Came in 2024.  Charles, a retired man, gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad from a private investigator and becomes a mole in a secret investigation in a nursing home. A review from IMDB... Just watched the first episode. To be honest, I didn't like the trailer much but decided to watch it because of the creators of the show and the cast: Ted Danson (favorite shows: Cheers and The Good Place), Mary Elizabeth (favorite shows: Santa Clarita Diet and It's Always Sunny...), Stephanie (favorite show: Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Lilah, and the rest of the cast. The first episode has a good storyline. It's about an old, lonely man who is retired and bored. His daughter suggests he try something exciting, so he takes a job doing secret investigation in a nursing home. His amateurish way and carefree attitude in doing things make it really entertaining. Overall, I enjoyed the first episode - short runtime of less than 30 m...

More web-series reviews… Freedom at Midnight – Came in 2024.  Is the electrifying story of India's struggle for independence. Based on the bestselling book of the same name, it recounts the partition of India and Pakistan, and the religious and socio-political dynamics of the era. A review from IMDB... What if Jinha's health condition was known to all???? Nice adaption of a great book by my fav authors duo... "Heat not a furnace for your foe so hot that it do singe yourself." Freedom at Midnight is a series based on Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre's gigantic bestseller of the same name. Given the piercingly researched, strikingly visual source-material, it was always meant to be. Collins and Lapierre finished the book in 1975, just 25 years after India gained independence. Starting in the early 1970s, the authors had unprecedented personal access to Lord Mountbatten, who was a fan of their book ...

More web-series reviews… Poirot – Ran from 1989 to 2013. 70 episodes in total.  This whodunit series based on Dame Agatha Christie's crime novels and short stories, was named after its star sleuth, Hercule Poirot (David Suchet), a famous former Belgian Policeman, who settled for good in London after the war, soon so famous as an infallible private detective that he becomes a society figure in his own right. In each episode, Poirot gets to solve a crime mystery, mostly murder(s), for a paying client or otherwise catching his attention, generally along with his faithful English sidekick Captain Hastings (Hugh Fraser) and/or his Scotland yard "friendly rival" Chief Inspector Japp (Philip Jackson). A review from IMDB... I literally grew up with Poirot, Sunday nights as a nine and ten year old were all about Poirot, Pistachio nuts, Terry's Pyramint. The productions evolved over time, the early hour long format episodes were much lighter viewing, over time they bec...

More web-series reviews… The Diplomat – Came in 2023 and has had 2 seasons so far. In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, lands in a high-profile job for which she is not suited, with tectonic implications for her marriage and her political future. A review from IMDB... I had very mixed feelings about season one, the 8-part series that my wife and I just finished watching, streaming. On the one hand the actors and their characters play off each other in very interesting ways. I can say "Never a dull moment." On the other hand, after building up the intrigue for 7 1/2 episodes, the last episode ends with several critical questions unanswered. That is why I usually prefer a movie, in 90 to 120 minutes you get introduced to the key elements of a story, you see everything that develops, then you see important elements tied up nicely by the end. Not this one, in a way I feel the show ...

More web-series reviews… 1000 Babies – Came in 2024.  Enter a cradle of mysteries where a man with a dark past manipulates multiple lives through a series of cryptic letters and deadly games. A review from IMDB... An intriguing psychological crime investigation thriller narrating a social crime committed by a medical servant. The plot of the story is about a retired head nurse who has committed heinous crimes during her service and how the law and order system deals the chaotic situation to curb the persisting havoc forms the storyline. Najeem Koya and Arfouz Irrfan has layered the story in 7 episodes giving clear character arc and detailing to the performers in the web series. The plot idea conceived for the movie would have definitely crossed the minds of viewers at some crucial moments in their lifetime. 😨 The story is very engaging except for the flat writing in the climax sequence. The movie should be binge watched in a single sitting with headphones for an enthral...
