177. Web-Series Reviews – 32

Currently I am reading and watching Arne Dahl.  Arne Dahl is a Swedish author whose books have had a major success.  He has written 10 books on A-Unit or Intercrime series.  These books have been made into web-series with 2 season of 10 episodes each.  Each book is depicted in 2 episodes.  I read the book and then watch the 2 episodes 😊 !!  Presently 3 books have been completed and the resultant episodes seen!!  The last 5 books, unfortunately, have not yet been translated into English, so I have to do with only watching the episodes!! Will review the series sometime later… Some more web-series reviews… Flower of Evil – Flower of Evil is a South Korean television series which premiered in Netflix in 2020. Baek Hee Sung is a man who hides his identity and past from his wife Cha Ji Won, a detective. On the surface, they appear to be the perfect family: a loving couple with a beautiful daughter who adores her parents. Cha Ji Won and her colleagues begin investigating a series of u

Some more documentary series… T he Disappearance of Madeleine McCann – This documentary depicts the disappearance of three-year-old Madeleine McCann, who vanished from an Algarve holiday apartment at the seaside resort of Praia da Luz in Portugal, in May 2007 as her parents enjoyed a meal with friends 100 yards away. It explores the media, the investigation and the McCanns, although the McCanns themselves do not take part in this docu-series. The documentary is spread over 8 episodes, each of which is about an hour long.  It shows all the highs and lows about who all are thought to be suspects and how they are then cleared.  Different theories, different investigators come into the picture over time and yet, after 10 years, still no info on where Madeleine is.  The documentary covers the period till 2018.  In 2020, apparently a prisoner in Germany has been suspected to be the main culprit as he was in that area during that time.  However, there is still no proof whether he did t

This time, I bring you the top 3 (according to me, in no particular order) female detective series out there! Forbrydelsen – I had already seen and wrote the review of the American remake of this series (Blog no 151 – Web-series Review 19.   The Killing).   The Danish original is much better than the American one. I skipped the 1st series as the American one is simply copied from the Danish one.   The 2 nd and 3 rd seasons are different in both. The series is set in Copenhagen and revolves around Detective Inspector Sarah Lund (Sofie Gråbøl). Each series follows a murder case day-by-day. Each fifty-minute episode covers twenty-four hours of the investigation. The series is noted for its plot twists, season-long storylines, dark tone and for giving equal emphasis to the stories of the murdered victim's family and the effect in political circles alongside the police investigation. It has also been singled out for the photography of its Danish setting, and for the acting abilit

More documentaries’ review… Out of Thin Air – On the night of 26 January 1974, Guðmundur Einarsson, an 18-year-old labourer, was walking back from the community hall in Hafnarfjörður to his home, 10 kilometres away. He was last seen by a motorist after he nearly fell in front of a vehicle and has not been seen since. Ten months later, on 19 November 1974, Geirfinnur Einarsson, a 32-year-old construction worker unrelated to Guðmundur, received a phone call while at home and drove a short distance to the harbour cafe in Keflavik. He left the keys in the ignition, but failed to return to the car. Six suspects, Sævar Ciesielski, Kristján Viðar Viðarsson, Tryggvi Rúnar Leifsson, Albert Klahn Skaftason, Guðjón Skarphéðinsson and Erla Bolladóttir, eventually signed confessions to murder, even though they had no clear memory of committing the crimes. They had been kept in isolation, interviewed at length under pressure with little contact allowed with their lawyers. They were given drugs

173. Covid Escapades

After taking every precaution that were listed out for escaping from Covid, I still got it 😊 .  Even when going out for buying something from the store just outside our colony, I used to put mask and the helmet (of course, I don’t walk near distances 😊 ), and will remove them only after coming back home.  And after coming home, I will wash my hands with handwash and also wash my legs.  Even after doing all this, I still got it! For 2 days continuous, I had sore throat and cough.  When I checked with my cousin, he suggested that I take a Covid test.  So, I went to take the test.  I went and found myself surrounded by about 50 people, all waiting to take the test. After about an hour and half, my turn came and they took my sample.  The next day evening, the result came as positive.   The test reading was around 21.  If you have a reading above 35, you are considered Covid-negative.  After I tested positive, I sent my wife and kids for testing.  Luckily, they all tested negative.
