More Documentary reviews… Downfall – The case against Boeing – Came out in 2022. Outlines the tragedy that occurred between March 2019 and December 2020, when two Boeing planes mysteriously crashed, causing the deaths of 346 people. As a result, the Boeing 737 MAX passenger airliner was grounded. While the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration resisted grounding the planes initially, they quickly discovered evidence of similar accidents, and by March 18th, 2019, all 387 aircraft were grounded. One of the reviews from IMDB... "Downfall: The Case Against Boeing" (2022 release; 98 min.) opens with a clever montage of the good ol' days when Boeing enjoyed a stellar reputation for its safety record. We then go to "Jakarta, Indonesia" flight 160 is taking off, and things go horribly wrong, crashing minutes after takeoff. The widow of the flight's captain recounts the events of the day. At this point we are 10 min into the film. Couple of comments: this is

More web-series reviews… All are true stories.  White House Farm – Came out in 2020.   Revolves around the true story of a fateful night in August 1985 when five members of the same family are murdered at an Essex farmhouse, and the ensuing police investigation and court case that follows. One of the reviews from IMDB... This true crime drama was a long time coming but was worth the wait. For true crime buffs who are old enough to remember the case and who have read both the official releases and the propaganda of Bamber's amen corner with a critical eye, it plays well. The story ends with his conviction, but although there are some graphic crime scene photos, we do not see Bamber actually committing the murders, and there is absolutely no doubt that he did. The police can be criticised on two grounds; one is that they made a dog's breakfast of the crime scene; the other is that the man in charge of the investigation was much too quick to write it off as an open and s

More web-series reviews… What Remains – Came out in 2013.   4 part mini-series.   A young couple move into an apartment only to find the body of a young woman that had been missing for 2 years but never registered as missing which leads to a deeper investigation into what actually happened One of the reviews from IMDB... This four-part thriller shown on the BBC on consecutive Sundays turned out to be an excursion into modern-day Gothic melodrama mixed in with a good old-fashioned whodunit. Along the way it tries to make points about neighbourliness, loneliness and control as all of the inhabitants of a small block of flats conveniently seem to forget about the existence of the young, fat, solitary female who lived in the top-floor flat until two years after her disappearance, her bodily remains are discovered in the loft above her apartment, triggering the narrative. Cue red-herrings galore and a backwards, forwards, backwards, forwards use of flashback to fill in the lead-up

More web-series reviews…  This time, original and its remake 😊 !  Remake review first as that was the order that I saw them!!   Suspicion – Five ordinary Brits are accused of kidnapping the son of a prominent U.S. media mogul. They embark on a desperate race against time to prove their innocence, but will anyone believe them - and are they telling the truth?  Came out this year. One of the reviews from IMDB... This show has potential, but it fumbled too much across all 8 episodes, especially in its mystery, story, and characters. The first 3 episodes introduce the characters and tries to develop them and the mystery and story. Despite 3 whole episodes being used, the characters, story, and mystery are all so underdeveloped and extremely dull. They pretty much take each episode and divide it amongst each character being developed separate but also despite this they are completely forgettable. The 5 main characters each have o

More web-series reviews… One of us is Lying – Came out in 2021.  A brain, an athlete, a princess, a criminal, and a "basket case" walk into detention - but only the first four make it out alive. One of the reviews from IMDB... "One of Us is Lying" is your typical mid-week teen soap opera dressed up as a murder mystery. When one nefarious teen is impossibly killed during detention, the four students present (each harboring secrets and a motive to murder him) form a fragile bond as they work to unearth who did it and why before they find themselves in jail, or worse. Along the way, soap elements are drip fed to us, as the "Bayview four" leak their secrets, or lie about them, in efforts to protect themselves. We get the usual good girl gone bad, bad girl going good, drug peddling outcast turning leading man and popular jock with a murky history that may or may not include homosexuality, drug use and
