More web-series reviews… Wednesday – Season 3 came in 2025. A sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday's attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago - all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore. A review from IMDB... Wednesday is a visually polished series, with a charismatic lead and a gothic setting that effectively recalls the Addams Family's imagery. Jenna Ortega carries the show well and gives the character a strong identity, even if it has been significantly recalibrated for a younger audience. The main limitation of the series, in my opinion, lies in its writing, which is clearly aimed at a teenage target. This shows not only in the dialogue and school...

More web-series reviews… The Gathering – Came in 2024. The violent attack on a teenage girl in a tidal islet in which group of teenagers from disparate backgrounds, each of whom could have committed the crime, along with their parents. A review from IMDB... I suppose this series was aimed at a younger crowd, but my 'kids' are 10+ years older than the characters and I very much enjoyed this. It was refreshing to watch a genre I wouldn't normally consider because of (what I perceive) as the target age of the series. Of course, there are typical scenarios with young adults but it had REAL BONES. A very good story line and very good performances of all the actors involved. It was nice to see. Warren Brown, who I remember in Luther, Good Cop (ANOTHER series that should have had a second season), Strike Back just to name a few. It's very frustrating when a series ends and you're holding your breath for the ...

More web-series reviews… The Institute – Came in 2025. The plot centers around Luke Ellis whose parents are murdered in the middle of the night by intruders. Luke wakes up at The Institute in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. Outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents, such as telekinesis and telepathy, who got there the same way Luke did. Based on the Novel by Stephen King. A review from IMDB... If you didnt read the book, dont bother reading all these negative reviews from the bookreading community, they have unrealistic expectations since the movie isnt like they played out the book in their head while reading it. While some criticism is valid, for example the dialogue during the start of the show feels offputting and unnatural, also some of the characters are not really fleshed out (yet). But criticism about the plot or the pacing or everythi...

More web-series reviews… Scrublands – Came in 2023 and based on a book. Follows investigative journalist Martin Scarsden as he has to uncover the truth of the case of killing of five parishioners by a charismatic and dedicated young priest. A review from IMDB... My Review - Scrublands Steaming on Stan My Rating 8:10 Series One I'm always pleased to see another quality Australian television series that introduces me to new upcoming actors I haven't seen before . Thankfully locally made series that highlight the quality of our script writers and film technicians are occurring more frequently. Scrublands convincingly demonstrates that we can stand proud in the very competitive Cinema and Television World and often surpass some of the mediocre productions that are churned out like sausages from America. Series one of Scrublands made in 2023 follows investigative journalist Martin Scarsden impressively played by Luke Arnold as he tries to uncover the truth in the case of ...

More web-series reviews… Columbo – Ran from 1971 to 1998. When you first saw him, Lieutenant Columbo looked like a bum that just came off the street. He had a bumbling demeanor, was overly polite and seemed to chomp on the same short cigar on a daily basis. However, beneath all that comical exterior was probably the most dogged investigator in the Los Angeles Police Department. Columbo was often called on to investigate high profile murders that involved the rich and famous. The culprits were often amused by him, and just as they thought they were going to get away with murder, Columbo would find a way to trap them or find enough evidence to make them confess. A review from IMDB... I am a huge fan of detective series- Inspector Morse(my favourite), Agatha Christie:Poirot, Murder She Wrote, New Tricks, Monk, Ellery Queen, A Touch of Frost and Taggart are all wonderful, but I can't not mention Columbo. Columbo is sophisticated, funny and clever, and is quite simply one of th...

More web-series reviews… The Crow Girl – Came in 2025. DCI Jeanette Kilburn and eminent psychotherapist Dr. Sophia Craven join forces to hunt the killer of young men. The investigation takes Jeanette and Sophia into a dangerous world of historic abuse and murder. A review from IMDB... This was absolutely great! It's been a long time since a show kept me glued to the tv episode after episode. I watched this in one day and I am thoroughly left hanging with vaited breath for season 2. I'm not going to put in any spoilers, the series is too new for that and there's a lot of people who haven't seen it yet. My main reason for the review is just to give my opinion on what I thought of the whole thing. It is definitely worth your time. I don't understand why other's have said it finished badly. Unless it's because they wanted all the answers now and were not expecting a second season. I was surprised by ...
