More web-series reviews… Agatha Christie’s Marple – Ran from 2004-2013.   A total of 23 stories in 6 seasons.   Based on Dame Agatha Christie’s crime novels and short stories, this show followed the adventures of Miss Jane Marple, an elderly spinster living in the quiet little village of St. Mary Mead. During her many visits to friends and relatives in other villages, Miss Marple often stumbles upon mysterious murders which she helps solve. Although the Police are sometimes reluctant to accept Miss Marple’s help, her reputation and unparalleled powers of observation eventually win them over. Trivia The twenty-three episodes of this series are adapted from Dame Agatha Christie's twelve feature-length novels featuring Miss Marple, two Miss Marple short stories, and nine feature-length novels that do not feature Miss Marple in them at all. One of the reviews from IMDB... I was absolutely gutted when the BBC regained the rights of Agatha Christie from ITV, there were still

More web-series reviews… Green Wing – Ran from 2004 to 2007. 2 season of 18 episodes. An offbeat comedy from the team behind 'Smack the Pony', set in a hospital, and is very much character-based, with storylines involving a staff liasion officer who hates people, a humourless consultant who thinks he's funny, and a handful of sexual predators and inadequates. One of the reviews from IMDB... Green Wing is, in my mind, one of a kind. This show manages to successfully combine conventional elements of a drama/comedy (a compelling romance plot, likable characters, a seemingly grounded hospital setting) with wacky madcap slapstick, mind-bendingly surreal escapism and sketch comedy. Doing so is no mean feat. Even after seeing the series multiple times, every time I watch the show I undergo the same process as a viewer. Initially I feel slightly weirded out by the unusual filming style (slow-mo and fast forwards are use

269. Norman Wisdom/Keigo Higashino

I came to know of Norman Wisdom about 10 or so years ago, when Ranjan Athimber asked me if I could get Norman’s films for him. I got about 15 films of Norman and gave it to him.  Since Ranjan Athimber was asking, I knew the films would be good.  I kept them in my hard disk to be seen at a later date 😊 !  Finally, that date came last month when I binge watched all of them 😊 !! Sourced from Wikipedia... Sir Norman Joseph Wisdom, OBE (4 February 1915 – 4 October 2010) was an English actor, comedian, musician and singer best known for a series of comedy films produced between 1953 and 1966 featuring a hapless onscreen character often called Norman Pitkin. He was awarded the 1953 BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Roles following the release of Trouble in Store, his first film in a lead role. Wisdom gained celebrity status in lands as far apart as South America, Iran and many Eastern Bloc countries, particularly in Albania where his films were the only ones with

More web-series reviews… Farzi – Came out in 2023. One of the reviews from The Hindu... Raj and DK’s ‘Farzi’ feels more like the work of a magician who repeats his trick on the market’s demand What happens when an artist crosses the lines of law? What happens when he starts seeing a humble currency note as a challenging work of art? Writer-director duo Raj and D.K. have an uncanny knack for creating charismatic characters grappling with the socio-political realities of our times. Their canvas gets larger than life, but they negotiate it with the detailing of master craftsmen keen on making sense of the zardozi of emotions and ideas with a thread spiked with sharp humour. With  Farzi, they expand the everyman secret agent universe that they created with  The Family Man. The possibilities are delicious... but after eight episodes that provide plenty of goosebumps moments and a lot to chuckle about, the series leaves one with the feeling of being sold a dummy.   Over the years,
