More web-series reviews… Dept Q – Came in 2025. DCI Carl Morck is a brilliant cop but a terrible colleague. His razor-sharp sarcasm has made him no friends in Edinburgh police. After a shooting that leaves a young pc dead, and his partner paralysed, he finds himself exiled to the basement and the sole member of Department Q; a newly formed cold case unit. The department is a PR stunt, there to distract the public from the failures of an under-resourced, failing police force that is glad to see the back of him. But more by accident than design, Carl starts to build a gang of waifs and strays who have everything to prove. So, when the stone-cold trail of a prominent civil servant who disappeared several years ago starts to heat up, Carl is back doing what he does best - rattling cages and refusing to take no for an answer. Adapted from Danish crime novels by Jussi Adler Olsen. Previously the same novels were adapted for 6 Danish movies. A review from IMDB... I haven't read the...

More web-series reviews… The Studio – Came out in 2025. As movies struggle to stay alive and relevant, Matt and his core team of infighting executives battle their own insecurities as they wrangle narcissistic artists and craven corporate overlords in the ever-elusive pursuit of making great films. With their power suits masking their never-ending sense of panic, every party, set visit, casting decision, marketing meeting, and award show presents them with an opportunity for glittering success or career-ending catastrophe. As someone who eats, sleeps, and breathes movies, it's the job Matt's been pursuing his whole life, and it may very well destroy him. A review from IMDB... Apple TV+ brings us one of the great comedy series of 2025, and it's done so under the guidance of a duo that has been nailing it for several years with their projects, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. This time, they take us into the film industry's core with a series that addresses Hollywood ...

More web-series reviews… Gram Chikitsalay – Came in 2025. The young, idealistic and brilliant Dr. Prabhat, takes charge of a neglected Primary Health Centre in a North India Village hoping to bring about much needed changes only to realize it is he who will have do change before anything else. A review from IMDB... Gram Chikitsalay is the story of an underdog in an unfamiliar territory that is filled with all sorts of colourful characters and has it's fair share of problems that no one has found a solution to. The protagonist takes up the challenge to fix the problems and while doing so finds himself undergoing a transformation as well. This story seems familiar because this template has been used by TVF and quite a few storytellers a number of times; what matters ultimately is how you use it and the kind of impact your screenplay makes on the viewer. Unfortunately this show missed the mark for me. TVF shows are usually considered an easy watch because you just have to watch...

More web-series reviews… Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight – Came in 2025. When the druid Getafix forgets how to prepare the magic potion, Asterix and Obelix must defend the village as Caesar plots to use a Gallic law against them. A review from IMDb... The new Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight mini-series on Netflix is a real treat. It's a five-part animated adaptation of the classic comic, directed by Alain Chabat, what he's done with this series is genius! This version stays true to the heart of the original while adding a fresh, modern touch. The humor is sharp, the animation is beautifully done, and the voice cast fits perfectly. The story follows Asterix and Obelix as they stand against the Roman forces, while their druid Getafix finds himself in trouble *no spoilers*. Naturally, chaos follows. Watching this took me straight back to afternoons spent in the Hornsby library, pouring over Asterix comics, getting lost in their sharp wit and playful satire. Those...
