Wednesday – Season 3 came in 2025. A sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday's attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago - all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
A review from IMDB...
Wednesday is a visually polished series, with a charismatic lead and a gothic setting that effectively recalls the Addams Family's imagery. Jenna Ortega carries the show well and gives the character a strong identity, even if it has been significantly recalibrated for a younger audience.
The main limitation of the series, in my opinion, lies in its writing, which is clearly aimed at a teenage target. This shows not only in the dialogue and school dynamics, but also in the way certain social themes are introduced.
In particular, LGBTQ-related narratives feel constant and often poorly integrated. This is not about representation itself, which is perfectly legitimate, but about a continuous presence that tends to take up narrative space even when it does not serve the development of the plot or the characters. Some relationships and subtexts are hinted at or emphasized without real narrative build-up, giving more the impression of a message being delivered than a natural choice consistent with the story.
A clear example is how certain connections between characters are deliberately left ambiguous or loaded with innuendo, only to have little to no real impact on the story's progression. This approach, repeated several times, becomes predictable and, in the long run, distracts from the main narrative arc, which could have been more effective if it had remained more focused.
At times, the series seems to actively try to make the viewer sympathize with specific themes rather than allowing them to emerge organically through the characters and their actions. The result is a sense of insistence that may not be appreciated by those looking for a more balanced or less didactic form of storytelling.
Overall, Wednesday remains an enjoyable and well-produced series with a strong visual identity, but it is held back by narrative choices that prioritize messaging and target audience over depth and coherence. Good, but not entirely convincing.
My Take – Worth a watch!
Irish
Blood – Came in 2025. Divorce lawyer Fiona Fox
receives a message from her estranged father, embarking on a journey to
Ireland. She uncovers family truths and her father's dark past, realizing her
life's abandonment story was a protective lie.
A review from IMDB...
I'll admit it-I was skeptical. I'm not usually an Acorn Channel devotee (their shows sometimes feel like the "comfort food" aisle of TV). But three episodes into Irish Blood, I'm eating my words.
First of all, it's just flat-out beautiful to see Alicia Silverstone on television. She's always been a movie star in my mind, but here she slips into a series role with this witty, intellectual innocence that somehow carries just the right amount of power. It's intriguing, a little mysterious, and it makes you lean in.
The show itself? Gorgeous. The scenery and cinematography are so thoughtfully done and every frame feels deliberate, like the setting is a character of its own. And the characters are worth watching. The way they interact is layered, subtle, and unfolding in a way that keeps me engaged without being heavy-handed.
It's the kind of series you can sink into: relaxing, engaging, and filled with the sort of clever little details that make you want to hit "next episode." Honestly, it's just plain fun to watch someone you grew up seeing on the big screen reinvent herself in a way that feels fresh and unique.
Bottom line: skeptical me is now invested me. This is a definite watch.
My Take – An ok watch!
Unlock My Boss – Came in 2022. The series is about a company president who gets trapped in a smartphone due to a suspicious incident, and an unemployed young man whose life changes after picking up the strange smartphone.
A review from IMDB...
I looooove the concept, a man disappears and gets trapped inside of a smartphone and becomes the very AI he has been developing all his life. He then seeks help from a stranger and his secretary to find out what happened to him and unveiled any possible conspiracy against him.
There you have literally all the ingredients to make a fantastic show BUT I just can't stop thinking about one thing. The trapped CEO who is a computer prodigy and a genius has the capability of make use of every technology and digital tool to communicate virtually and just do whatever he wants online through his new "body" the smartphone but they seem to have limited his control/powers so he has to be connected via cable to a computer to use it? Is the director not aware of wifi? Bluetooth? What kind of computer prodigy cant hack systems? He was able at the beginning to send emails out to the world to ask for help, he was able to make phone calls and even sign contracts or delete CCTV footage but it seems that it's selective so when his friends are in danger he is almost helpless?
I mean if you ignore that which I guess is purposely done so our leads also have a weakness, the show is pretty entertaining and funny.
I absolutely adored the ML in his last drama Love all Play and OH MY BOD how much he has bulked physically since we saw him on Nevertheless ( he looks like a different person) I liked his super comedic side in this one too.
The couple playing the ML's parents are so good and hilarious, specially the father , I just love how chameleonic Ahn Nae Sang is.
Little girl playing the CEOs daughter is so endearing too and the rest if the cast does it great.
Some chemistry between the leads but they don't focus too much on romance so it's good enough.
Ah! And the OST was awesome! I kept shazaming the songs!
Good show to watch something not complicated and with a bit of action and intrigue.
My Take – Worth a watch!
Adios till next time😊!!
