75. Movie Reviews - Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota / Photograph

I got to see these movies back-to-back this week!! While the former is a whacky movie, Photograph is a slow-moving movie.

I saw the trailer of the movie “Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota” during Avengers or some other movie screening.  The concept is that the hero does not feel any pain in his body on being injured!!  He was thrown off a motorcycle when some chain snatchers tried to steal his mother’s necklace when they were coming back from the hospital after his birth, in a Sholay-inspired motorcycle!!  The trailer looked whacky and I was wondering if the wackiness could be carried off in the whole film.

The DVD’s were out last week and I happened to see the movie this week.  It is a completely entertaining and a mind-blogging movie!!  It seems like a homage to old movies in a comedical way!!  Imagine fighting being done on the Kishore Kumar’s Nakhrewaali song!!  This scene is absolute gem in the movie!!  There are many references to Brule Lee movies and karate and kung fu.  Even the fights are choreographed brilliantly and in slow motions!!  There is one more scene wherein the heroine tells the hero of the importance of “khujli” (itchiness) in our life!! Absolutely whacky😊😊

As usual the hero gets a heroine when they are kids and then part ways.  They end up meeting each other later at the start of the Nakhrewaali song scene!  There is one scene where a compass is stabbed on the hero’s leg when he is a boy and he does not notice it; remember he does not feel any pain!! The heroine, as a small girl, notices it and cries after pointing it out. The hero nonchalantly removed the compass and says “Ouch”.  His grandfather, Mahesh Manjrekar, in a gem of a role, had told him that if blood comes out of his body, he should say “Ouch” else others will think he is abnormal!!

His reverse-kryptonite is Water!!  So, he carries a backpack of water in most of the scenes whenever he is outside so that he does not become dehydrated!!
Just see this movie and have a blast, as I did!!  The ending points to a sequel too!!  Worth waiting for😊

Photograph features Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra (Dangal movie fame).  It is a very slow-moving film but a nice one.  Nawazuddin is a photographer who stands in Gateway of India and asks people to click their photo with Gateway of India and Taj Hotel for Rs 50. Later he is also willing to do the photo for Rs 30.  Sanya, who is a Gujju, has just topped CA Foundation exams and is now studying for CA Inter.

They both meet when Nawazuddin is asking people to take photographs, and the story proceeds.  Since Nawazuddin’s grandmother, who stays in a village, wants him to marry a girl from the village, Nawazuddin sends the photo of Sanya and says that he already has a girl friend and is not interested in any other girl. On hearing this, the grandmother comes to Mumbai and the story continues.
The film can be seen for Nawazuddin.  Sanya has a simple straight-face expression throughout the movie

Cheers until next week!!

Today’s Daffy Definition

Bad – Not altogether that good, but considerably better than worse and far better than worst, which considering all things, is pretty fair!!
