92. College reminiscences – 4

Image
Our college was well known for getting closed (bandh 😊) for various kinds of reasons.   It also depended on who the elected representatives were, in the college.   If anything happened to their people, we enjoyed the bandh in the college and would plan for movies or chilling out!!   We would come to know about the bandh only after reaching the college.   After coming to college, no one would be thinking of going back home.   So, we would go to a nearby dhabha and look at newspapers as to which movie are running at which theatres!!   Our regular haunt was the Chanakya theatre as that is where all the English movies would shown!!   Other theatres included Priya, Sangam, Plaza, Odeon, Regal, Rivoli etc. etc.!!   During my initial days in the college, there was an incident.   While coming to the college from the bus stop, I saw a guy who was bleeding from his thigh.   Apparently, he also studied in our college and someone from our college had knifed him!!   He was pointing the kn

91. College reminiscences – 3

Hi everyone, back with more of college reminiscences, now that I have exhausted my thoughts on Dukku’s antics 😊!! I remember, that I had gone to see Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak with 2 girls from my college. Since the Chemistry exams were over before Physics, Dukku couldn’t come with us 😊 .   I don’t know if I remember this incident because it was the first time, I was seeing a movie with 2 girls alone, or was it because the movie was good and there was a new hero making his entry into the film world – Aamir Khan!! And of course, I did not sit in the middle seat 😊😊 !!   Anyways, after the movie, we three went to my house, which was walking distance from the cinema hall.   My mother made dosas for them to eat.   After that I dropped them to the bus stop, walking, and came home 😊 !! During my college days, almost every week, someone from my college would be at my house for free dosas 😊 .   There would always be dosa batter available at my house.   If the batter would have gotte

90. - The Dukku Chronicles😊 – 3

Welcome to the third and the concluding part where we look at more incidents during my friendship with Dukku 😊. There was a time when Dukku had to drop a scooter at his sister’s house in Jaipur.   He wanted some company during the trip as Jaipur was around 300 kms from Delhi and he didn’t want to drive the scooter himself for the entire distance.   He asked me if I can accompany him and I agreed. We decided to drive on a Saturday morning so that we can rest in Jaipur at night and then return by bus on Sunday. He drove most of the time as I was not yet comfortable driving a two-wheeler at that time. I would have driven some 20% of the trip on the highway while he took care of the balance 80%.   During the trip, while he was driving, he was blocking many vehicles who were trying to overtake him 😊 .   It so happened that a truck came behind us and blew his horn asking us to move aside. Dukku being Dukku 😊 , decided that he is not going to give side to the truck too 😊😊 .   T

89. The Dukku Chronicles😊 – 2

Welcome to the second part where we look at more incidents during my friendship with Dukku 😊. Dukku had a Hero Honda Sleek bike.   When I also decided to buy a bike, I also went for the Sleek model.   I was supposed to buy the bike on a Sunday. On Saturday morning, I called Dukku and told him that I am coming to his place to learn how to ride the bike.   He also said he will be at home only but he cannot teach. I told him, just ride the bike, I will see how you ride and learn.   We spent some half to one hour in front of his house where I learnt the bike.   Now the stretch in front of his house was long, but the width was just sufficient for 2 bikes to cross each other.   For turning the bike, I had to get down and turn the bike physically and then proceed to ride the bike.   The next day I went and purchased the bike.   On Monday morning, while going to office on the bike, I passed through the Pusa Institute.   There, while turning the bike, I just fell and broke the bike’s si
