Jakten pa en mordare
– Based on a true story about real homicide investigations in the south of Sweden between 1989-2004.  6 episodes of 45 minutes each.

Review from IMDB…

Mikael Marcimain was praised for the miniseries Lasermannen (2005) and this is something similar - a captivating depiction of how the police after many years got a breakthrough in one of Sweden's largest murder investigations, the Helen case, thanks in part to the technical advances in the work with DNA. tracks, partly some diligent toil of some policemen. The series is firmly rooted in the Scanian soil and takes us on a gray, unpleasant journey fraught with pedophiles and murderers in the countryside. There is also a sense of humor and a lot of frustration in how an inefficient police organization sets up obstacles. Very exciting; Anders Beckman is superb as the angular head of investigation Per-Åke.

Prime Suspect – Detective Chief Inspector Jane Tennison (Dame Helen Mirren) has been passed over time and again to lead a murder investigation, so when one of her fellow DCIs has a heart attack just before he's ready to charge their prime suspect, Jane sees her chance to lead a murder investigation. But the murder squad she takes over is hostile to her, the men upstairs are eager to pull the plug on her investigation, her personal relationships suffer from her obsession with work, and the prime suspect remains elusive. Jane has her work cut out for her as she and her team work their way through computer data trails, legwork, intuitive leaps, chases, arrests, and confessions to find the killer.

7 seasons with 2 episodes each of about 100 minutes runtime.  Season 4 has 3 episodes.

Excellent series!

Bordertown/Sorjonen – Quirky police detective, in Finland, delves into his mind palace to solve despicable crimes all the while trying to keep his family together. If Sherlock was based in Finland this would be it.  3 seasons of 31 episodes with about an hour of running time for each episode.

Detective Inspector Kari Sorjonen is one of the most respected officers at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Finland when his wife barely survives brain cancer. Sorjonen has Asperger's and exhibits traits related to savantism. The character was based on British writer, Daniel Tammet, and also resembles an 'everyman'-type Sherlock Holmes.

Sorjonen takes a new job, initially leading SECRI, the Serious Crime Unit, in the city of Lappeenranta, South Karelia, Finland. He moves his family to the town near the border of Russia for a more peaceful life. But life turns out to be less than peaceful there. Sorjonen's partner, a former Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) agent, Lena Jaakkola, is "...in many ways...the exact opposite of Sorjonen..." and makes the duo's partnership somewhat contentious at times.

A very good series!  Finished it while in Covid-quarantine😊!

The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez – In 2013, 8-year-old Gabriel Fernandez died as a result of horrific and prolonged abuse by his mother and her boyfriend. In the wake of the tragedy, a demand for justice and accountability exploded in Los Angeles County. This six-part documentary series from award-winning documentarian Brian Knappenberger (Nobody Speak: Trials of the Free Press) offers an inside look at the trial as well as an eye-opening investigation into the government systems that failed to protect Gabriel, despite multiple reports and warning signs. Along with shedding light on an important story, The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez serves as a wake-up call to reexamine the structures designed to protect children in need.

Excellent documentary!!

Jeffery Epstein Filthy Rich – An American web documentary television miniseries about convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The miniseries is based on the 2016 book of the same name by James Patterson, and co-written by John Connolly and Tim Malloy. Filthy Rich was released on May 27, 2020 on Netflix. The four-part documentary features interviews with several survivors including Virginia Giuffre and Maria Farmer, along with former staff members and former police chief Michael Reiter, a key individual from the first criminal case against Epstein.

Excellent series.

Cheers till next time!
