203. A different India

In the past few months/weeks, we have seen a different India, which was never evident in the past.  Earlier, whatever happened, India was mostly in a shell and not concerned about anything.  Other countries used to take us for granted and were constantly ignoring us when it comes to taking center-stage in the world.  Our politicians too were not concerned about this situation and were quite willing to let it go and were concentrating on filling their own pockets.

Recently there have been a couple of instances wherein India has flexed its muscle so much that the other countries had to sit up and take notice.  I will be talking about 3 such instances, so far, that has made each of us proud to be an Indian.  Whatever anyone may think of the current government at the center, looking at these 3 instances, I will always prefer this government over any another, either in the past or in the coming future.

During the Covid crisis, in spite of vociferous opposition, India did send the vaccines to various countries.  With this act, it has proven to the world that India is someone who can be counted on to help others.  I am sure this help will ensure India reach the position that it deserves in the world.  This is not one of the 3 instances, but just shows what India can do to ensure that it gets the recognition that it deserves.

Just a few months ago, UK brought an advisory that all Indians who were visiting UK need to be quarantined for 10 days and UK will not recognize any vaccine from India for providing relief from quarantine.  Just 2-3 days later India hit back saying that all persons who land in India from UK will be quarantined for 10 days irrespective of any vaccine that they had taken in the UK.  This act by India shook the UK so much that their PM had to intervene and say that they are working with the Indian government to sort the matter out.  Such an action by India was never possible earlier as we were always servile to foreign nations.

India did not relent at all till UK removed this restriction on their side.  And only after that, did India removed this restriction.  In the earlier days, even if India had taken such a position, it would have reversed it the next day and would have said that it was due to some misunderstanding at a lower level in the bureaucratic hierarchy.   This government’s motto looks like don’t take India for granted.  We will do to you, what you would do to us.

The second instance is of the fear that Pakistan Cricket Board feels whenever the name of Mr Modi is spoken😊.  As per Zee News – PCB chairman Ramiz Raja told Pakistan’s Senate Standing Committee that Indian business houses in a way run Pakistan cricket and Indian PM Modi has power to ensure collapse of PCB.  The very thought that an India PM is feared by some other country is indeed a very proud moment for us.  Now, Mr Modi may or may not have such a power, but if someone fears us just because it may or may not happen, it just reiterates how India is looked at by others.   The fear that India is not of the old and anyone who messes with us will face serious repercussion, seems to be percolated around the world😊!

The third instance is of the purchase of S 400 missile system from Russia.  All other countries who have gone for this missile from Russia had to face US sanctions in one way or the other, without any recourse.  When India went for the system, there was indeed a hue and cry from US stating that India too would face sanctions.  But our government went ahead and made the payment for the missile system saying that the security of the country is paramount and much ahead of any other considerations.   After this, the entire talk about sanctions died down and US thought India would buckle down.  The missile system is supposed to be delivered later this year.  Recently India sent in their people to Russia to get trained on the system and prepare for the delivery of the system.  The next day an article comes that prominent US lawmakers pitch sanctions waiver on India’s S400 purchase😊!

The world now knows that India being servile to other countries is a thing of the past and we will flex our muscles whenever someone tries to put us down.  We know what we want and will ensure we are treated as an equal rather than a subservient ally.  People who are always plotting against us need to fear us and people who treat us as equals will get advantage of our support.  We are a new India and I am proud to be living in these times.

Cheers till next time😊!
