53 - Coming out of the Social Media

I have deleted my Facebook account.   Of course, the catalyst was the knowledge that Facebook data has been compromised and my data might be lying anywhere from Chechnya to Chinchpokli!!   I am not sure what they can do with my data as I was not using the account to post anything.   Well, maybe about 10 odd posts from the time I had opened the account!!   I was only logging in when I will get a mail from Facebook that someone had messaged me.   Or if someone wanted me to like their post.   Or if someone wished me on my birthday.   With closure of my Facebook account, anyone wanting to wish me would have to actually call me.   Else they can keep their wishes to themselves!! I am amazed that there are lots of people out there whose life only revolves around how many “likes” they get on their posts.   These people don’t have any other life and most will get into some kind of depression if they don’t get sufficient “likes”.   If you are eating out, concentrate on the eating, rather

52 - Punishments in School

During my childhood, punishments, either in school or at home, were very common and I have received quite a number of them during my school-going days.   With the kind of rage that is spread nowadays, whenever there is a news of a teacher having hit a student, I am wondering as to how as a society we have stooped to such a level that out future generations are going to be bratty and having a false sense of entitlement. In the earlier days, whenever we used to complain about our teachers at home, the first question asked was what we did to get the punishment.   It was a given that the teacher will hit a student only when the student had done something wrong.   Of course, there were some sports teachers for whom hitting a student was time-pass.   But as long as you did what was expected of you, you could even escape from such teachers too. I remember one incident from my school days when I was punished. It was after the Sanskrit half-yearly exam in my 8 th standard.   There w

51 - Coping with the Accident

One really feels very bored when you are faced with the prospect of having to be bed-ridden for a period of more than 2 months!!   If you have very busy life meeting various deadlines, it gives you some time to take a breath and enjoy your period of rest.   But when one is already enjoying life with no tension at all, you have to think of various ways to make use of this period so that one does not end up being bored 😊 During the initial week or so, it was more of how to reduce the pain in the leg by sitting in the recliner in a way to minimize the pain.   Or even lie down in the bed so that pain was endurable.   Once the pain started declining, I began to look around for options to while away the time. I couldn’t go out, so watching movies in theater was a no-no.   The 4 movie tickets that I get for free in a month was given to my Jijaji in Nagpur.   I booked the ticket from here and sent it to him on WhatsApp!!   He just showed the message to the theater and they allowed him

50 - The Self-Inflicted Accident

On 9 th February this year, I was as usual going on my scooter with my wife to drop her to her office-bus stand.   I had just gone some 50 meters from my home and had reached a turn in my colony.   When I presses the brake on the scooter, I think, the back portion of the scooter went up the air and I got flung, face-down on the road. Thanks to the helmet that I was wearing, I escaped just with some nose injury and some loss of blood from my nose.   But my right knee hit the road hard.   My wife was also thrown out and she suffered abrasions at her hands and legs.   Just as a precaution, we both went to the hospital with a neighbor’s driver in our car since I was not even in a state of walking properly.   She was declared ok and I was advised an X-Ray, just in case.   I had pain in the right knee and agreed to the X-Ray.   The X-Ray showed that the ligament had torn off in my knee and it had also taken out a small portion of my bone along with it.   The Doctor asked me to get an

49 - Cheating in Cricket - The Australian Way!!

Last week, we had an opportunity to see at least 4 Australian cricketers cry.   I am sure that all of their cries were phony and were for the camera.   This behavior of Australians has been going on for so long that they have thought themselves to be invincible and capable of getting away with anything.   Just for a refresher, just click on this link http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/22961057/sanctimony-steve-waugh and you will get to see their behavior over the years.   Don’t forget to click on all the links in the page to see the actual video or the type of behaviors that Australians have been engaged in, over the years.   It is amazing that this type of behavior of the Australians have not been checked and nipped in the bud and was encouraged to sustain for so long.   It is prudent to say that there were not that many cameras covering the matches during that time, and also no social media. The whole world saw how the Australians cheated at the Cape Town match. The fact
