57 - Delhi Sight-Seeing in 2 Days!!

I know that seeing a place like Delhi and enjoying its uniqueness will not suffice in 2 days.  But, since nowadays, people have less time to do things physically and do more things online, this will come as a handy tool for seeing some of the important places in Delhi and tick-marking this place in their bucket-list!!  I know that this can be done as I have just done this last month.

First identify the list of places that you need to visit in Delhi.  Since I was a Delhiite once upon a time, this trip was for my daughter who had never been there before.  I had done a similar trip with my son some 2 years back.  Once the places are identified, you have to know where you will be staying in Delhi.  With this 2 information, open Google Maps and put the list there as destinations.  Give the time of travel as half hour between the places and give about half hour to one hour for visiting the place.  With this you should be in a good position to work out a schedule with some buffer also attached to it.  Make sure you do the trip during the weekends as on working days, there will be heavy rush and will spoil your timings!!

For travel, use Ola Rental or Uber Hire. They give out rentals based on number of hours.  You can have them pick you at your place of stay, go to different places and get dropped off at your place of stay.  They will also wait in the parking area of all the places you will be visiting.  Of course, the parking charges need to be paid by you.  In Delhi, Ola is much cheaper than Uber.  Trust me, much much cheaper😊

If you are doing the trip in Summer, make sure you carry a cap with you.  Also cold water.  Of course, at all the places you get cold water or lemon-water or soda-water from different vendors.  I remember, I used to drink cold water at 5 paise a glass, from the water vendor, when I was in Delhi, growing up!!  Now it is Rs 2 per glass of water!!  Keep drinking fluids at every place as it will keep your body hydrated!!

Day 1 – Rashtrapati Bhavan, North & South Blocks and Parliament House (from outside), India Gate, Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Akshardham Temple.  You can start at about 8 in the morning and can finish by 8 or 9 in the night.

Day 2 – Qutab Minar, National Rail Museum, Lotus Temple, ISCKON Temple, Jantar Mantar, Palika Bazaar (air-conditioned underground shopping complex where you can bargain upto 70% of the quoted price😊), Connaught Place and Karol Bagh.  Start from your place by about 9am and finish with Dinner at Karol Bagh by 9pm.

Also while travelling around in the taxi, please keep on looking outside the vehicle for the other places in Delhi.  In case you have time, also take a ride in the Delhi Metro.  Other than that, you can go to sites like TripAdvisor or Visitacity to know about other places to visit here.  Also note that you do not necessarily have to see all the places.  See enough to ensure you do not have to visit the place again😊  Cheers!!
