59 Do anything you like for Money, Name or Timepass

These days you come across so many people, in all walks of life, who will have the gall to do or say anything and then try to get support from others to either justify their saying or saying that they meant something else.  For people living in social media, everything that you say or do is to get attention and then look for ways to convert it into regret in case it does not match with people’s expectations.

Recent case is of Priyanka Chopra.  She had known that the episode in Quantico titled, “The Blood of Romeo” was the story of thwarting of a terrorist attack by Indian nationalists and putting the blame on Pakistan for it.  She would have studied the script and then only would have acted in it.  Maybe at that time it was more of how much money she was getting paid rather than concentrating on what she was doing.   As expected, when the show went on air, she got such a voluminous backlash which led her and the producer ABC to apologize for the show.  Maybe they thought that by doing such a story they can create a hype on the show making everyone see it.  It is also to be noted that before this story hit the news, the show was denied the extension and was axed.  Maybe this story was a signal to their bosses to show that the series still had some juice and can get more people to watch and discuss it.

There were also some supporters who said that it is fiction and should not be taken seriously and makers had a freedom to tell their story in whichever way they felt.  Most of the supporters themselves were guilty of doing something similar in the past and they took this opportunity to be heard and let people know that they too are alive and kicking!!

Take the case of Salman Khan.  He can literally get away with anything in India.  Be it the killing of blackbuck or the killing of a labourer.  Moreover, the case keeps on dragging so much that the affected parties come into some sort of negotiation and carry on with their lives thinking that the only reason why they had to settle was that they were poor.  He is also reported to have done so many other things that a lesser person would have been punished for it suitably and immediately. 

I also heard recently that Amitabh Bachchan had purchased a plot in Daulatpur village in UP for constructing the Aishwarya Bachchan Degree College there!!  The purchase was done 10 years back and the project was given to Nishtha Foundation which was then run by the SP MP Jaya Pradha.  Within 2 years the foundation became defunct.  Now with the funding done by the villagers themselves, the college is set to re-open this July and has been christened Daulatpur Degree College.  What is the point of intending to do something when you don’t have the guts or means to do it?

When you have a Name, it seems that it gives you some invisible power that makes you do things that you would not even dream of doing if you were an ordinary person.  And these people are supposed to be our role models in the society.  It is high time such people are shown their places in case they deviate from the normal behavior and that too, promptly.
