81 - Delightful Kishore Kumar Hindi Songs
As already
indicated earlier, for me Kishore Kumar was the best singer ever, period😊 He brings such craziness in his songs, while singing or enacting
himself on the screen, that you can keep on seeing these songs umpteen number
of times and still find it very funny!!
Here are a few collections of his songs that fit this category!! Hope you too would find it funny and
enjoyable!!
Tak Dhin Tak
from Khalifa (1976) – The first time I head this song was as a kid at my
cousin’s place in a gramophone record.
Kishore teams up with Manna Dey and creates a memorable song!! Even though the film did not do well and not
many people would have listened to this song, this a completely zany song with
the usual Kishore antics. Whatever is
said in this song is true even in the current times!! Randhir Kapoor and I S
Johar enact this song. I saw this song
only while writing this blog. Listening
to the song is much more enjoyable than seeing it😊. There is also this line in this song – Jo gaane hum gaate hain woh gaane hit ho
jaayen!! You can listen to the song here –https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3P1A9FZjCXg. And you can see the song in the movie here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gpE8-6BOVM
Do Bechaare Bina
Sahaare from Victoria No 203 (1972) – Kishore teams up with Mahendra Kapoor and
has a ball in this song. On screen, the
song is being sung by Ashok Kumar and Pran looking for a lock as they have a
key😊. Even though the concept is funny, seeing
these thespians enact the song is totally hilarious!! And with their over-the-top wig, the entire
song is a laugh-riot!! Enjoy it here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F90nkxGzD_M
Ek Chatur Naar from
Padosan (1968) – The most delightful song that you can watch over and over again
for Kishore and Mehmood!! Kishore again
teams up with Manna Dey and Mehmood and gives us this gem of a song. Sunil Dutt is competing with Mehmood in this
song. Since Sunil cannot sing, he asks
Kishore to sing in the background, being hidden, and Sunil does lip synching
for the song. You also find Keshto
Mukherjee and Mukhri playing with comb, paint brush, broomstick, broken cot and
oil-tin giving music to the song!! The
facial expressions of Kishore and Mehmood are so enticing that every time you
see the song, you find it even more captivating!! Mehmood lip syncs for Manna Dey and himself in
this song. Enjoy it here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGfTQ-YFjIE
One more interesting
thing about the Ek Chatur Naar from Padosan. It seems that this is an inspired
version from an Ashok Kumar song😊 You can see the Ashok Kumar
song here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtthfgNa7YY
Meri Pyaari
Bindu from Padosan (1968) – Another gem of a song from Kishore. Just watch Kishore dancing to the words in
this song. It seems effortless and from
the heart. When the soundtrack of the
movie was released, this song was missing from the audio cassette as they felt
it is not a full song. Later on, when
the song became hugely popular, they had to add this song to the music album😊. Enjoy it here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zr_enRRcyuw
Guni Janon Bakht
Janon from Aansoo Aur Muskaan (1970) – This song starts as a bhajan and ends up
mentioning the names of most of the heroes of the film industry from 1950’s to
1980’s😊. And all the names are mentioned in a rhyming
style considering the music of the song!!
In the song Kishore says he will tell the story of the movies and starts
reciting the names with the briefest intro on each of them!! During that time Kishore was also being
harassed by the Income Tax guys. He
makes a mention of that too in the song!!
Enjoy this gem here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Etx0Y5YmACs
C A T Cat Cat
Maane Billi from Dilli Ka Thug (1958) – Another hugely awesome cult song with
crazy dancing by Kishore. The song
features Kishore and Nutan who also matches Kishore’s craziness!! It seems that Kishore was given total carte
blanche to do whatever he wanted to do in this song. And he just lets it go shaking all parts of
his body grooving to the music😊. Enjoy it here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLVJ_QGcPyE
Meri Lottery Lag
Jaane Waali Hai from Holi Aayee Re (1977) – A forgotten song, but not by me😊. Have been listening to
this for decades!! Picturised on Rajinder Kumar in the movie. But the wordings and the accentuations are
too good, in a typical Kishore style!!
Just listen to him singing in supposed-to-be-African😊 language!! Enjoy it here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7U_ZAU53H8
Cheers until
next time!!
