124. Web-series Reviews – 10
Some more web-series to see during the lockdownππ
The
Keepers – The Keepers is a seven-episode
American documentary web series that explores the unsolved murder of nun Sister
Cathy Cesnik, who taught English and drama at Baltimore's Archbishop Keough
High School, and her former students' belief that there was a cover-up by
authorities after Cesnik suspected that a priest at the school, A. Joseph
Maskell, was guilty of sexual abuse of students.
A fascinating
long series about of a group of courageous and tenacious women, who refuse to
let slide the brutal murder of a young lady who was important and highly
influential in their lives and whom they all loved and respected, a case which
the local police had run aground about almost 50 years ago, or seemingly.
An admirable and
effective documentary that encourages its audience to look deeper and keep on
questioning. The bravery of all those facing their demons here is tangible,
provoking us to take action ourselves when it's called for in our lives, and to
do the right thing.
A very well-made
documentary that depicts how powerful institutions trample everything to keep
their names above all. Nothing else
matters other than their reputation, irrespective of the nature and atrocity of
the crimes that they shield. Worth a
watch.
American Crime Story – "The People v. O. J.
Simpson" is the first season of the FX true crime anthology television
series. It revolves around the O. J. Simpson murder case and is based on
Jeffrey Toobin's book The Run of His Life: The People v. O. J. Simpson (1997).
The season received critical acclaim, with
praise for most of the performances, directing and writing. For the 68th
Primetime Emmy Awards, the season received 22 Primetime Emmy Award nominations,
in 13 categories, winning nine, more than any other show, including Outstanding
Limited Series. It also won the Golden Globe Awards for Best Miniseries or
Television Film and Best Actress – Miniseries or Television Film for Sarah
Paulson, who acted as the prosecution lawyer.
A well-made series depicting everything that
happened after the murders of OJ Simpson's wife and Ron Goldman including how
OJ Simpson was arrested after his chase was broadcasted "live" on TV. The message you get from the series is that
if you know how to convince a jury, irrespective of whatever real evidence the
state has, you can get away with murderπ. And this is not a documentaryπ.
I have not watched the second season – The
Assassination of Gianni Versace. I read the summary and was not inclined to
watch it.
How to Get Away with Murder – A group of ambitious law
students and their brilliant criminal defense professor become involved in a
twisted murder plot that promises to change the course of their lives. The
serial is very fast and you have to keep concentrating else you miss something.
This series also shows how a lawyer goes all out to secure freedom for her
clients, in any way whatsoever, justice be damned. Each episode tackles getting
one client secure his freedom while there is a story of a murder that the law
students might have done, which runs thru the entire season. Each season starts with a murder without
showing the actual murder and all the participants. Each episode starts with showing the same
murder with some more scenes till the end part of the season where the entire
murder is shown and who all participated in that.
I thought I will see the first season and
stop. But the end of the 1st
season made me see the 2nd season and now I am into the mid of 4th
seasonπ, expecting to complete this season by today
eveningπ. The
6th season is running now and is expected to complete by
end-May. Overall, a definitive
watch.
Cheers and from next blog, we will move away
from the web-series reviewsπ, even though I still have some more series
to watchπ, and then review!! Also, one of my college friends asked me to
write on other stuff too!! He feels that
once I stop writing on web-series, maybe the lockdown will be lifted soonπ!!
