More web-series reviews…

Mumbai Diaries 26/11 – Mumbai Diaries is a medical thriller set in the Emergency Room of a hospital. The series explores the challenges faced by the medical staff at the hospital as well as other first responders across the city of Mumbai in dealing with a crisis of immense magnitude. In this battle to save lives and heal others, the ones doing the fixing are the most broken.

One of the reviews from IMDB…

Mumbai Diaries 26/11 is an intense and engaging fictionalised medical drama on the Mumbai terror attack. The writers waste no time to set an arresting premise and show the urgency in the life of frontline workers, emergency doctors, and other hospital staff. The makers have not just limited the story to the terror attacks but also involve human relationships.

Major highlights of the show are cinematography, medical surgery, and attack sequences which are executed perfectly. Although, few moments are overly dramatized, and too many subplots & backstories ruin the pace. But still, the series is emotionally gripping and its screenplay managed to hold the viewers till the last episode.

Each and every actor played their part brilliantly. Mohit Raina and Konkona Sen Sharma delivered an excellent performance. Shreya Dhanwantary's character was not written well but she manages to give a convincing performance. Satyajeet Dubey, Natasha Bharadwaj, and Mrunmayee Deshpande shines in their supporting roles.

My Take – The first 4 episodes were good.  The next 4 were not that good.  Too much assumptions and not convincing enough.

Der Pass (Pagan Peak) – German Series😊!!  German Officer Stocker and cynical and uncommitted Austrian Inspector Winter work together to catch a serial killer, who leaves messages and stylizes himself as Krampus, a folkloric demonic creature that must punish society for its sins.

Der Pass would have to be in the running for best catch-a-serial-killer series this year, and maybe this decade. Shot in the Alps, it never shies away from using the topography to great effect, both with locations and cinematography. There’re some interesting characters. I would have preferred detectives without shady backstories and secret relationships for a change, but it seems we the public have to live with that trend a while longer. Certainly, the back stories here do add a definite dramatic element and consequence to the investigation, so at least it's all part of one package. Loved the lead male detective dressing like an anti-Oscar Wilde! Loved the lead female detective dressed in red, which really added a symbolism. Der Pass never lets up on the suspense and the surprise. The killer is certainly high functioning, and fully engages attention. The soundscape was awesome too, modern and sophisticated, at an appropriate level, and here and there a good German song. Perfect for a binge.

My Take – An excellent watch!

Jordskott – Another Swedish series! Detective Inspector Eva Thörnblad (Moa Gammel) returns to Silver Height seven years after her daughter Josefine disappeared by a lake in the woods. The body was never found and the girl was believed to have drowned. Now a boy has vanished without a trace and Thörnblad wants to find out if there is a link to her daughter's disappearance. At the same time, she will take care of the legacy of her father, the great entrepreneur Johan Thörnblad, who has built an empire of timber and timber processing on the large forest owned by his ancestors. As the plot deepens, more children are kidnapped and what initially seems like a police drama takes a more sinister and stranger twist with each episode.

2 seasons have come out so far with 18 episodes in total.

One of the reviews from IMDB...

This is the kind of show I've been waiting for! It mixes suspense, physiological drama and the occult in a way that never has been done before in Swedish television. I must admit that I was a little bit skeptical during the first episode, like " oh let's see where this is going", but soon I realized that I was about to binge watch the whole series in one night!! The writers have managed to create a story that never slacks and characters that are really fascinating, while at the same time following a plot that keeps the audience in a firm grip with new twists and turns in every episode. It's like "Oh my gosh, i didn't see that one coming!!" I have always been a little bit vary about dialogue in Swedish film and television. There has been a tendency to write "on the nose" dialogue, " sometimes unbearable to listen to like in many cop series, but in "Jordskott" the writers have had great success in writing lines that lift the characters AND drive the plot forward. The cast is excellent. If Moa Gammel won't be our next export to Hollywood I would be really surprised. And Happy Jankell is truly a rising star! Last, when it comes to the work of the camera crew: Never before has the dark forests, the small deep lakes and the inherent mystery of the Swedish countryside been better shown. If I worked for Swedish tourism I would very pleased right now. Maybe we will see "Jordskott" tourism in the near future.

My Take – An excellent series!!

Cheers till next time😊

Advice – A piece of wisdom from a person who probably rejected it a long time before you were born😊!
