Testament: The Story of Moses – Came out in 2024.  Explore the life of Moses, his journey from outcast and murderer to prophet and liberator of the Hebrews from Egyptian oppression.

A review from IMDB...

I came with reservations because of other comments, but apparently they didn't watch it until the end, because I did in fact find it very entertaining, insightful, touching and also very realistic.

I like how they show Moses for what he really was - a shy, reserved and troubled individual. They don't hide the fact that he lived most of his life as a fugitive. They also show accounts of his interactions with various local people from polytheistic tribes and other faiths, which most other shows about topics such as the bible omit. Reality is much more diverse and complex than just the mythical story, and they honor this fact historically.

If this would have been a show trying to "convert" you (Judaism is against conversion anyway), they would have painted Moses in a much better light and also focused only on the "mono" theistic part of that history, but they actually do the opposite.

What I'm trying to say is that this show is not religious in any way, it's pretty much objective and shows that everyone has good and bad sides, such as fitting real life. It even shows GOD as a multifaceted entity such as he is in the Hebrew bible and his complex relationship with Moses, and tackle grand philosophical questions such as "Why did god create evil in the first place?".

So in essence, they do bring this biblical story to life and the main actors in my point of you have very realistic relationships among themselves.

The only fault I have to say is that yes, it is a bit "cliche", but I think only because it's a story we are all familiar with. They did succeed in bringing in a fresh historical perspective. Even though it's in English, and obviously adapted to a modern crowd so that not every single detail is precisely accurate or sometimes dramatized, I applaud the fact that they made it feel so raw and intimate. Overall, I recommend.

My Take – Worth a watch!

The Tower – Came out in 2021 with the first season and in 2023 with the second season.  A veteran beat cop and teenage girl fall to their deaths from a tower block in south-east London, leaving a five-year-old boy and rookie police officer, Lizzie Griffiths, on the roof, only for them to go missing. Detective Sergeant Sarah Collins is drafted in to investigate, working to find Lizzie before she comes to serious harm, but also to uncover the truth behind the grisly tower block deaths.

A review from IMDB...

... inane reviews harming-well-made-shows to-be-ignored

... when productions get reviewed by average viewers spewing-forth poor to deliberately unfounded criticisms... remaining objective goes completely out the window

... this is a very good show, well acted and produced, and the story-script well-developed-written... no reason for exceptionally poor reviews except to harshly-unduly-sandbag a good series.. as an example, one reviewer commented that they immediately stopped watching due to "stupid-writing" after the one officer left the scene without being interviewed... numerous negative reviewers had problems with all evidence of "police-corruption," which obviously the show is really not at all about

... there are enough poorly written-acted-produced works... fortunately 'The Tower' is not one of those productions... Gemma Whelan best known as Yara Greyjoy in HBO's Game of Thrones; here is DS Sarah Collins, her first primetime lead character, and she proves-herself handling the role admirably... evidencing she has the talent-ability for being a 'lead-actor'... this series easily left enough material on the story-board for another season to happen, and it's truly hoped ITV sees its way to having S2 come-about

... S2 now having aired, was-is as good as initial episodes, if not better... these are characters you want to continue to follow along with their many-intersecting-stories-lives... hopefully there is to be an S3 of this very-well done-drama-crime-series.

My Take – Worth a watch!

McDonalds & Dodds – Came out in 2020.  12 episodes in total of 1.30 hrs each! A shy and enigmatic Detective Sergeant is partnered with a wildly ambitious Detective Chief Inspector to solve crimes in the historic city of Bath.

A review from IMDB...

The chemistry between the two protagonists is fantastic and it is the No. 1 reason I follow this show. .I've watched the episodes twice and I can't get enough of them. They are very much a funky couple in a genre that prides themselves in "odd couples." D & D is a funnier "Vera," a smarter Shakespeare and Hathaway, a quirkier version of Midsommer Murders, and a more complex intergenerational relationship than Brokenwood Mysteries.

The actor that plays MacDonald is wonderful. You can watch every emotion imaginable pass through her lovely face as her superior dress her down, or the suspects questions her ability to solve the crime. Dodds, on the other hand, has only one expression, a quizzical visage in the face of daily 21st century police work, but they work together marvelously. When they are on screen you can't watch away.

The other main character is Bath. One of the most beautiful cities in the world. I was there as a college student and regret not returning. Kudos to the director and crew for bring it alive.

My Take – Worth a watch!

Cheers till next time😊!
