47 - Games - Maran PT, Ring, Kikli

7.     Maran PT – I am not sure of the actual name, but this is how I remember it.  Maybe it is a mixture of Maar (hit in Hind) and PT as in you do a lot of running in this game.  This game is played with a rubber or a tennis ball.  There are 2 teams with 5-6 players in each team.  This is generally played in a ground or a park.  You toss to see which team is going to hit the opposition team with the ball and which team will run and not get hit.  The objective of the game is to hit the opposite team player with the ball so that he becomes “out”. You keep on hitting them with the ball till the entire team is “out”.  The team which does the running, has to ensure that any ball that is coming to hit them is avoided by either jumping or ducking.  For hitting the opposition team, the team can pass the ball among themselves so that once the pass goes to the team member who is near the opposition team member, he can just hit him with the ball.  You are not supposed to run and hit the ball at someone.  When you catch the ball, you are supposed to throw and hit where you caught the ball.  The ball might sometime sting you on hitting.  You just wait for the opportunity when your chance comes for hitting and take your revenge by hitting that player with the same force with which he hit you 😊.  You get a chance to improve your aim in this game.  You also get a chance to assume where the ball is going to come for the hit and then accordingly think of escaping it.

8.   Ring – This is a very simple game.  There is a rubber ring-shaped toy which is used for playing catch-catch.  It can be played between 5-6 players standing in a big circle in a ground or a park.  Ensure that at least 15-20 feet distance is there between the players. The first person throws the ring to the second person, the second person then throws the ring to the third person and so on.  In case anyone is not able to catch it and drops it, he is given the letter D.  This goes on till someone gets all the letters D, O, N, K, E and Y.  Then he is declared “out” and is removed from the game.  The game continues till there is one person who has not got all the letters.  He is declared the winner.  Another variation and fun can be that you are free to throw the ring at anyone and not in a certain order.  This makes you concentrate on the game as you never know when the ring might come your way😊. This improves your concentration and catching skills.

9.    Kikli – This is a game of 2 people wherein you catch your partner’s hands and then spin together.  The right palm of the first player holds the right palm of the second player and similarly the left palm is held by the left palm of the other player.  The players face each other and with arms extended spin in a clock-wise or an anti-clock-wise direction. Please ensure that you don’t leave your partner’s hands as this may result in him falling down😊.  Take sometime to come to a stop as stopping immediately will make you both fall.  Also wait for a few seconds to get your bearings right as your head might still be spinning when you stop!!

That’s all this time!!  More in the next blog…. Cheers!!
