The Killing – The Killing is an American crime drama television series that premiered in 2011, based on the Danish television series Forbrydelsen (The Crime). The 4th season was commissioned for Netflix and it was the last season.

In Seattle, Det. Sarah Linden is on what is supposed to be her last day on the job. She and her son Jack are supposed to leave that evening to join her fiancé in Sonoma. Her replacement, Det. Stephen Holder, is ready to take over but they answer a call from a patrol car who have found a bloodied sweater in a field. When the missing girl, Rosie Larsen, is found in the trunk of a car at the bottom of a lake it turns out the car is registered to the campaign committee for councilman Darren Richmond, who is running for mayor. Linden delays her departure for what she hopes will be only a few days.

The first season covers the first two weeks of the investigation of Rosie Larsen and has three main storylines: the police investigation into Rosie's murder, the Larsen family's attempts to deal with their grief, and the fluctuating electoral fortunes of a political campaign that becomes embroiled in the case.

The 2nd season resumes the investigation into the murder and reveals secrets about the Larsen family as well as a possible conspiracy within the campaign race and the Seattle police department. The Larsen murder case gets closed with the discovery of those involved in it.

In the 3rd season, a year after the Rosie Larsen case, Stephen Holder searches for a runaway girl and uncovers a string of murders connected to one of Sarah Linden's previous murder investigations. Linden, no longer a detective, must return to both a career and a case she had put behind her.

The fourth season features detectives Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder handling the fallout of their actions from the previous season while investigating the murder of a family whose only survivor is a member of an all-boys military academy.

Very good series and with good acting by the protagonists.  Since there is definite end to the series, you are sure that there are no loose ends and you don't have to wait for another season to knowing the end. Seasons 1 and 2 had 13 episodes each, Season 3 had 12 and Season 4 had 6 episodes.

Happy Valley – Happy Valley is a British crime drama television series filmed and set in the Calder Valley, West Yorkshire, in Northern England. The first series debuted on BBC One on 29 April 2014, and the second series debuted on 9 February 2016. In May 2015, Happy Valley won the BAFTA Award for Best Drama Series. A third series was in development as of October 2020.

Catherine Cawood is the sergeant on duty when flustered and nervous accountant Kevin Weatherill comes into her West Yorkshire station to report a crime.

Catherine is a no-nonsense police sergeant who heads up a team of officers in a rural Yorkshire valley. When a staged kidnapping spirals out of control turning into a brutal series of crimes, Catherine finds herself involved in something significantly bigger than her rank, but unknowingly close to home.

Both seasons have 6 episodes of about an hour each.  Nice acting by everyone and a nice police story.  Worth a watch.

Harlan Coben’s The Stranger – The Stranger is an eight-part British mystery thriller series based on the 2015 Harlan Coben novel of the same title. The miniseries premiered on Netflix on 30 January 2020.

A mysterious stranger tells a man a secret that has a devastating impact on his seemingly perfect life. This Stranger is a woman in her 20s with a baseball cap, and is learned to be correlated with more secrets as the series progresses. This secret affects the man's wife who goes missing as a result.

Very nice series and worth a watch once.  The review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes critical consensus states, "If not quite as addicting [addictive] as its source material, The Stranger has a strong cast and enough tension to keep viewers on the edge of their seats."

Cheers till next time!!
