My Perfectt Husband – Came out in 2024. Satyaraj in the lead. Saraswathi believes she is the only woman in her husband Bharathi's life. However, a marriage alliance for their son brings back a blast from the past.
A review from IMDB...
Director Tamira has shown a twist to each episode. A family story has been brought around few characters... There is love in everyone's life before marriage. But does it last after marriage? Or the makers made it into eight episodes with a small point that love also carries memories. But it can be completed in four episodes. The director who created the love stories of the old generation has ended the love story of this generation in a very fast forward way.
This series is around two families but the bond is missing in each episode while entertainment goes scarce... However The director took a bit more time while it's even proves that current generation are matured enough to know what life is about...
Sathyaraj is convincing in the role of Bharti sir. He is the main force in this web series. The others acted to the extent of their roles... Another plus point in this web series is Seetha's excellent acting and expression... Sathyaraj's comedy is taken at some places. Similarly, Sathyaraj's house, Rekha's house and the beauty of Kerala are cool to the eyes. You can watch this because there are no fight scenes, blood, violence etc...
But watching the entire series requires some patience. It's the scenes we've already seen that are boring enough that come and test. That and the climax no one can expect...
Arthur Wilson has shown the beauty of Kerala as a camera man... Directed by Tamira who hails from Kookaraipatti in Tirunelveli district who was a famous writer and director, passed away due to corona infection in 2021. It is also worth noted that he has directed movies like Aan Devathai and Rettai Chuzhi...
It seems No vulgar words were used & no obscenity making it a decent one-time watchable series...
My Take – You can avoid this😊!
The Perfect Couple – Came out in 2024. It's Nantucket wedding season, also known as summer; the sight of a bride racing down Main Street is as common as the sun setting at Madaket Beach. The Otis-Winbury wedding promises to be an event to remember: the groom's wealthy parents have spared no expense to host a lavish ceremony at their oceanfront estate. But it will be memorable for all the wrong reasons after tragedy strikes: a body is discovered in Nantucket Harbor just hours before the ceremony--and everyone in the wedding party is suddenly a suspect. As Chief of Police Ed Kapenash interviews the bride, the groom, the groom's famous mystery-novelist mother, and even a member of his own family, he discovers that every wedding is a minefield--and no couple is perfect.
A review from IMDB...
An easy six hours that would have been improved if it were written for half that time then edited down to two and change. The gist is that a prolific fiction author is married for 29 years to a wealthy man. They have three sons, the youngest is 17, the eldest is married and expecting in a few months, and the middle son is getting married tomorrow. The bride to be is not wealthy and it appears, strangely, that the bride's only would be attendees are her maid of honor and her parents. They throw in a few more characters to mix it up a bit, but when a main character turns up drowned the story turns detective story told in flashbacks, police interviews and interactions between the main characters conveniently trapped in the Nantucket mansion. There are weird sexcapades and alot of bullying that is meant to be funny, I guess. Although their are ample motives for a murder that actual motive is revealed in the final 30 minutes of the series after every other more likely motives are dispatched one at a time.
The acting is okay but Leiv Schreiber kinds just phones it in since his character is always drunk and stoned. Nicole Kidman's character is just one note: archly superior snark coated in a hard shell of narcissism. All the bullying makes most of the characters, obnoxious and undesirable. The bride and groom, the targets of most of the bullying, keep making highly unlikely but predictable mistakes.
The characters that make the series almost unredeemable are the completely unlikable eldest brother and his pregnant wife and a french sexpot played by Isabel Adjani whose character is a superfluous caricature that delivers her lines in a occasionally French accent with occasional insertions of French phrases. To make this character even worse is that Adjani is nearly 70 and her character is having an affair with the 28 year-old eldest son.
Also, it is now a writing trope to include weird throw away characters spouting outrageous conspiracy statements sprinkled with perverted observations and innuendo that no-one has ever used.
I gave the series a six because I actually enjoyed most of it.
My Take – An ok watch!
Kaos – Came out in 2024. A darkly comedic and contemporary reimagining of Greek mythology, exploring themes of gender politics, power, and life in the underworld. Zeus has a wrinkle. He's worried it might mean the end of the world and it might. Because on earth, six humans unaware of their importance or their connection to each other learn that they are component parts of an ancient prophecy. Will they discover the truth about the gods, and what they're doing to humans? And, if they do, will they be able to stop them?
A review from IMDB...
A diverse multicultural take on classic Greek mythos may not be for everyone. I, for one, only passably enjoyed "Kaos", which I observed was a tad too 'woke' for its own good. But the way they built up that delicious finale was more than worth the watch.
Also, it was intriguing and interesting to see how they went about creatively showcasing some iconic Greek mythological stories and the entities who inspired them.
I had to keep reminding myself that this was, overtly and unashamedly, a modern retelling of classic Greek myth. In this light, season 1 of "Kaos" managed to present a platter of welcome entertainment.
Almost the entire pantheon turned out in all their religiously regal glory, but with a contemporary twist. Modern counterparts of famous and infamous names went on to enrich the cast roster.
Jeff Goldblum (as Zeus) left an impression. He brought his signature line deliveries and casual charm to the series, rendering it fun in an anti-hero kinda way.
The other gods and demi-gods brought their own deific madness to the mix. Enter: Janet McTeer (as Hera), Stephen Dillane (as Prometheus), David Thewlis (as Hades), Rakie Ayola (as Persephone), Cliff Curtis (as Poseidon), Ramon Tikaram (as Charon), Nabhaan Rizwan (as Dionysus), and Debi Mazar (as Medusa).
Killian Scott (as Orpheus), Mat Fraser (as Daedalus), and Joe McGann (as Polyphemus) were neither here nor there but all three were exceptionally characterised.
The mortals - in life as well as the afterlife - unfortunate enough to be caught up in a prophecy as well as Prometheus's plan to bring down Zeus made this larger-than-life retelling feel fascinating.
Outstanding work in this regard from Aurora Perrineau (as Eurydice "Riddy"), Misia Butler (as Caeneus), and Leila Farzad (as Ari).
They also included the Fates and the Furies, rounding up those popular Greek-myth characters and having them put on a brief show.
This story reminded me of what I saw in the 2017-2021 TV series "American Gods". Also, it will help mightily if you brush up on your Greek mythos before watching "Kaos". Otherwise, you won't really grasp the finer points - the whys and the hows.
All in all, the first season of "Kaos" earned mixed sentiments from me, but mostly good ones. I enjoyed the pacing and appreciated the creativity. It also had sufficient dark and subversive elements.
I also couldn't help but feel they should've taken a more bombastic approach, one that involved a lot more action, improved nuance, interlinked feuds, and magic.
Perhaps "Kaos" season 2 may go the distance. Season 1 itself ended on a remarkable note. The finale created a promising setup for dark and daring things to come in the second season of "Kaos".
My Take – Worth a watch!
