68 - Hindi version of Foreign Movies

Image
I am a movie buff.   That is to say that I watch a lot of movies.   May be 3-4 movies a week 😊😊 .   Sometimes it may even stretch to about 5-6 a week!!   I remember during my college days, when there was a Mystery week at the Chanakya theatre in Delhi where they were showing all mystery movies throughout the week.   Chanakya was famous for only English movies during those times.   I was able to watch 5 movies in 5 days during my college days, of course while bunking the college 😊 .   Saturday and Sunday, being holidays, there was no college!!! Otherwise I would have seen 7 movies for 7 days straight!! Now coming to the topic, in recent times, there were 2 movies that have been adapted brilliantly in Hindi and Tamil/Telugu versions.   The first movie is Badla, which is a scene-to-scene copy of a Spanish film called Contratiempo (The Invisible Guest, made in 2016) and the second movie is Thozha (Tamil)/Oopiri(Telugu) which was a remake of ...

67 Interesting Background on these Hindi Songs

Sorry for a long break!!   Let’s call it just laziness and proceed further 😊 I have a USB stick in my car where I listen to songs whenever I drive. As of today, I have about 1000+ Hindi and close to around 500 Tamil songs. All of these are super hits (according to me 😊) and have been meticulously collected by me over the years.   They range from the year 1960’s to the present.   In some of the songs, there is an intro by a singer or a musician before the song.   I am just representing the same here so that you too can be aware of this.   I found all of them to be interesting, so I am just sharing it with you.   This post may extend to 2 pages and I hope you won’t mind it this time!! 😊😊 A majority of the 6 songs feature the one playback singer I admire the most – Kishore Kumar.   Of course, I admire all of them; as I can’t sing like them 😊, but Kishore is just something else.   Almost a majority of the 1000+ Hindi songs that I have...

66 - Giving is more satisfactory than Receiving

I came across this phrase last week.   I don’t remember where I saw this.   You can attribute it to my getting old!!   This phrase got into my mind and made me write this blog.   When I began to think about this, it all seemed to be too true!! Giving to others bring a great joy to the giver.   It can even be a small thing for the giver but the act itself is so pleasurable that you end up giving more than you bargained for!   And as long it brings you joy, you keep on giving!!   It may not necessarily be monetary in nature.   It can be things, things that can make them happy like wishing them on their important dates, doing something out-of-ordinary for them, making people cut cakes for the first time in their life on their birthdays/anniversaries when they are over 70+ etc etc.   On my part too, I give happiness to others whenever I can and I am happy that I have done all the things mentioned above 😊 .   Like calling the per...

65 - A day at Tirupati

Image
In late October, my wife said that she wanted to go to Tirupati in December. As I had taken up an assignment at that time that had a 6-day work-week, we decided to do it on a Sunday.   She booked the online slot for darshan for 16 th December and I booked the flight tickets for the same day.   I booked the flight tickets for early morning and late night so that in case there is crowd for the darshan, we might still be able to catch the last flight to Hyderabad for our return journey. On 16 th we caught the 7am flight and landed by 815am at Tirupati.   I had already booked a self-drive car at Tirupati.   As the car site was between the airport and the temple, we took an auto to the site and got our car.   Out slot for darshan was at 1pm, so we had breakfast and went to the Tiruchanur temple.   After the darshan, we went to Tirupati.   Before our climb to the temple site, one lady from CRPF asked for a lift to the temple site.   We took he...

64 - Be lazy and let things happen 😁

Yes, you heard it right😊.  Sometimes it is best to be lazy and let things drift for some time before you spend your mind/energy on it.  As long as you remember that the thing is still pending to be done, it is ok to relax for a bit and then do it.  Sometimes the thing itself will drift away or resolve itself without you having spent any time pursuing it!! Remember when you used to worry earlier for very petty things and when it got resolved, you were wondering as to why you spent so much time worrying on it!!  That is what life teaches you.  The things that seem mountain today will turn out to be a molehill tomorrow.  So, stop worrying and let things slide till you can work on it to solve it or it gets resolved on its own.  Your worrying about it is not going to help anyone.  The only thing that will happen is that you will be losing your sleep on it by imagining the worst that is going to befall you.  Tomorrow is anyways going to ...

63 - The Meals-on-Wheels Explained

Everyone loves to eat tasty food and more so when they don’t have to cook!  Just order from your mobile or laptop and hey presto, the food arrives at your doorstep, ready to eat!!  With so many companies giving out so many offers online, it makes sense to order online and eat, right?  You are always far away from the truth!! 😊 I also thought so and was ordering food online, well, now and then, which turns out to be once in 3-6 months or so😊.  Since I had some good offers, and wanted to try online ordering of food, I went ahead and ordered food online.  The food was good and I was happy for ordering online without having to go out and getting it. The other day, there was a function at our place and I thought why let the ladies of the house spend time on cooking and let us order from outside. I was checking out the online prices at a well-known place in Kukatpally and had checked out the menu card.    I totaled the items that I wanted to orde...

62 - Your data is no longer yours!

Welcome to the new world!!   Where anything you do online, is tracked and monitored.   And it is monetized and sold to people who want to know what you are doing online and your spending habits.   And now you are told before itself that whatever you do online is going to be used against you and would be shared with anyone the company feels that it is ok to do so, your privacy be damned. Remember the time when before installing any Windows software or any other software, you were shown an I Agree page where, unless you clicked on “I Agree”, it will not move away from the screen to install the software.   Earlier also no one bothered to read the 3-4 page of information and used to click on I Agree to start the installation.   Now the software has been replaced by an App.   Here you are not given a 3-4 page of information to read.   It just says that by clicking on the “I Accept” or some such Icon, you are handing over whatever information is ther...
