34 Goof-ups in Advertisements presently running in a TV near you!

Ads are something that we sometimes eagerly look forward to, especially if we are seeing them the first time.  Since my childhood, I have been seeing ads at regular intervals, but I haven’t come across a period where I can spot mistakes in multiple ads being run during the same time!!  The other day, I was watching the India-Sri Lanka Test cricket in Star Sport and the ads that I saw were filled with mistakes (in my opinion) which made me sit and write this blog.

The first ad was of iPhone-X.  The copyright claims that that it has the highest security in any phone.  The reason for this is that it can be unlocked with Face-ID.  For laymen/laywomen, it means you just show your face to the phone and it opens😊.  Now imagine a scenario wherein you have been kidnapped.  The kidnapper does not have to bother asking you the password for your iPhone!! He just waves it in front of your face to unlock and use the date.  Ditto for CIA and other agencies who are now going to court asking Apple to unlock the phones!! Even if the iPhone owner is dead, just show the phone to his face and open it!!  And then just reset the password!!  So much for highest security!!

The second ad is of Policy Bazar****.  This is a website which offers you various options to finalise your health and motor vehicle insurance requirements.  The ad talked about visiting their website to discover the best price for car insurance.  The surprising thing was that insurance was spelled as “INSUARANCE”!!  Somebody took his copyright work so seriously that he thought he would get an A for his efforts from the product owner!!  And in his eagerness, he placed that A as an additional letter in the word😊!!

The third ad is for Airtel 4G smartphone.  This ad shows that a housewife uses her 4G phone at supermarket for all her buying needs.  That is good.  But I don’t think anyone will tell the supermarket salesman that it is his/her first 4g smartphone!!  Another ad on Airtel 4G smartphone shows that a retired gentleman is saying the same dialogue and showing the phone to his friend.  This is completely natural and believable.  But telling this at a supermarket to a stranger😊!!

The fourth ad is for a new skin cream – Pretty 24.  No idea where the 24 came from!!  Do they mean 24 as is hours?  I don’t think you will care if you are not looking pretty while fast asleep!!  Or is it 24 working days (as per govt holidays – 4 Sundays and 2nd and 4th Saturday being off, thereby reducing from 30 to 24 days in a month).  Anyways, this is just one confusion.  The ad starts off with 5 ladies coming into a shop and ditching all the fairness creams in that shop.  Also striking off the notice that says that get fairer in 5 days or something to this effect.  Out of 5 girls, only 4 are given dialogues to say.  They show the 5th girl during the start of the ad where she is standing on one side and in the final shot of the ad, she is standing in the middle!!  But no dialogues!!  Maybe her voice was not suitable or maybe they are running a shorter version now and will feature her dialogue also in future versions of the ad😊!!

**** They have corrected the spelling!! Maybe they knew that I was writing about this!! Now the words “CAR INSURANCE” comes in a yellow color while the rest of the wordings are in White!!

      Today’s daffy definition

Telephone – A good way to talk to people without having to offer them a drink!!
