120. Web-series reviews – 6
More web-series reviews to entertain you during the lockdown😊😊!!
Dark – This series was introduced to me by Ranga, the son of one my friend-cum-relative in Delhi. He asked me to see this and thought maybe I will like it. Thanks Ranga!! The synopsis is as follows…
Dark is a German science
fiction thriller web television series. Set in the town of Winden, Germany,
Dark concerns the aftermath of a child's disappearance which exposes the
secrets of, and hidden connections among, four estranged families as they
slowly unravel a sinister time travel conspiracy which spans three generations.
Throughout the series, Dark explores the existential implications of time and
its effects upon human nature.
The story begins in 2019,
but spreads to include story-lines in 1986 and 1953 via time travel, as certain
characters of the show's core families grow aware of the existence of a
wormhole in the cave system beneath the local nuclear power plant, which is
under the management of the influential Tiedemann family.
During the first season,
secrets begin to be revealed concerning the Kahnwald, Nielsen, Doppler, and
Tiedemann families, and their lives start to crumble as the ties become evident
between the missing children and the histories of the town and its citizens.
The second season continues
the intertwining families' attempts to reunite with their missing loved ones,
several months after the first-season finale, in 2020, 1987 and 1954,
respectively. Additional story-lines set in 2053 and 1921 add new aspects to
the mysteries, and the secret Sic Mundus fellowship, a major force in an underlying
battle for the ultimate fate of the people of Winden, is explored, as the
season counts down towards the apocalypse – a supposed destruction of Winden
and death of many of its citizens.
The 3rd and final season is
supposed to get released in June 2020. Nice series with good acting by most of
the actors. It might be confusing for
some as the scenes go across different years as we see the same characters in
their young age or old age, depending on which year they time-travelled
to!! But definitely worth seeing for a
thriller.
Afsos – Translated from Hindi as Regret is an Indian drama web television
series directed by Anubhuti Kashyap. The series follows a depressed man who
wants to commit suicide but is unable to die.
The series starts off as a slow-paced one with action happening at
different places. It picks up when those
different things converge together and the action starts. There is also a talk about “amrut” and how it
was passed down the ages😊. A good one-time watch.
Money Heist Season 4 – Without a doubt, the best web-series
that I have seen so far. Season 4
premiered last week and I binged the 8 episodes from afternoon to night. The 1st 2 season told of one
story. The next 2 seasons were supposed
to tell the next story. But seeing the
response they have got; it seems they want to continue the next story across 3
seasons😊. As
usual, like the other seasons, the season 4 also ends on a cliffhanger. With the Corona Virus impact, I don’t think
the next season will come out before, at least a year or so😊!! For a recap of this series, please check

Special Ops – Special
Ops is an Indian espionage thriller series created by Neeraj Pandey, the maker
of Wednesday, Special 26 and other movies. The synopsis is as follows…
The series follows Himmat Singh (K K Menon)
of Research and Analysis Wing who draws similar patterns in terrorist attacks
and is convinced a single person is behind all the attacks. His task force team
of five agents living in various parts of the world aim to catch the
mastermind. The story is inspired by several espionage missions undertaken by
India in the last two decades.
Excellent acting by all the characters,
especially K K Menon. At last a serial
that talks good about the Indian secret services! And as usual they show how the secret service
is still answerable to the bureaucrats who handle the expenses. Although I had an inkling of who the
antagonist is during the middle episodes😊!! A definitive watch. I binge watched this with my family on Janata-Curfew
day😊!!
Mentalhood – Mentalhood is an Indian Hindi drama web
series and marks the Web series debut of actress Karishma Kapoor. The synopsis is as follows…
The series revolves around different natures
of mothers and showcases how they manoeuvre their way through unreasonable
expectations and they try their best to raise their children. The series
explores the multitasking nature of different types of mothers and their ways
in leading the best upbringing of their children.
A bit over-acted
though. Each episode is of about 20-25
minutes. The story keeps moving without
stopping anywhere. A one-time watch for
the concept and the different kinds of mothers-stories.
Cheers till next time!!
Today’s Observation
When a man reaches middle age, it isn’t the age that matters so much as the middle!!
