Wild Wild
Country – This is a Netflix documentary series
about the controversial Indian guru Rajneesh (Osho), his one-time personal
assistant Ma Anand Sheela, and their community of followers in the
Rajneeshpuram community located in Wasco County, Oregon. All you want to know about how Rajneesh set
up his commune in Oregon and what kind of backlashes he faced. The series is more about Anand Sheela as she
became the face of the commune. You have
the inner team of Rajneesh telling you the entire facts. It has interviews of both the Rajneesh team
as well as the people who were opposed to the commune. Interesting series where you get to see both
sides feeling what they did was the best. You can actually feel the tension
between the groups as if it were happening now.
A definite watch for one time
since it is a documentary. According to
critics the documentary has missed lots of wrong-doing in the community. But whatever has come out, is worth the
watch.
Panchayat – Panchayat is a comedy-drama, which
captures the journey of an engineering graduate Abhishek, who for lack of a
better job option joins as secretary of a panchayat office in a remote village
of Uttar Pradesh. Stuck between crazy villagers and a difficult village
lifestyle Abhishek starts his job with the sole motivation of getting out of
there as soon as possible, for which he even prepares for CAT. The serial moves very slowly as it is about a
village. You feel pity for the hero as
he gets always pressurized to do things that he does not want to. You can watch it one time as Raghuvir Yadav’s
acting is brilliant and spot- on. Neena
Gupta is ok. Jitendra Kumar is the hero
of the series, who was the friend of Ayushman Khurana in the recently released
Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. The series
ends on a note indicating that the 2nd season would also be made.
Naked – A murder mystery, the lead investigation officer gets physically
involved with the prime suspect who happens to be the victim’s fiancΓ©. ‘Naked,
Pornstar or Killer?‘ is an original series by MX Player and Vikram Bhatt which
aims to find the truth. But, it may not be so obvious. Not worth watching. You can just ignore this!! Wooden acting with the climax just falling on
its face.
Asur – A unique crime thriller that pits two
opposing worlds against each other. The less explored, intricate world of
forensic science and the deep mysticism of ancient Indian Mythology. A
psychopath killer with a twisted philosophy deep-seated in Indian mythology is
on the loose. Two forensic officers from the CBI are close on heals to catch
the serial killer but with a twist of fate, they get caught in a dreadful
situation. How will this end? Will the real face of this ASUR be revealed? Starring Arshad Warsi. The series is well-made. Worth a watch. The series points to the presence of “asur”
in each of us. The villain is revealed
to us in the series, but not to others, acting in the seriesπ. So,
we have to wait for the second season to see how it culminates!!
Queen – I had written about this in my earlier
blog (Blog No 111) when I had just seen 2 episodes out of a total of 11
episodes. The series actually picks up
from the 3rd episodeπ. The
entire portion depicting the stardom years of the “Queen” is well made. Ramya Krishnan actually appears as the
protagonist only in the 9th episode when she enters politics. Of course, she appears in all the episodes as
the whole story is shown in flashback during her interview, a la Rendevouz with
Simi Grewal show!
The Raikar Case – An edge-of-the-seat thriller about
family, love, deceit, and the secrets that wrench us apart. It grapples with
the dilemma of 'Will You Choose Truth Over Family?', and if trust can ever
really be absolute. The Raikar Case follows Goa's biggest, wealthiest and a
well-respected family. However, their house of lies begins to crumble when
their youngest commits suicide, and the police officer in charge is convinced
that one of the family members is responsible for his death. The series starts out as the first scene of
Broadchurch where a person falls off a cliff and dies on the beach. That’s where the similarity ends and total
chaos starts. Each episode starts with a
different person killing the “suicider” and we get the same scene of the person
falling from the cliff!! The ending points to a second season. You can safely ignore this series or see it
at your own perilπ. Atul
Kulkarni doesn’t get to flex his acting muscles at all and is completely
wasted.
Cheers till next time!!
