Designated Survivor – In the United States, a designated survivor (or designated successor) is a named individual in the presidential line of succession, chosen to stay (at a secure and undisclosed location) away from events such as State of the Union addresses and presidential inaugurations. The practice of designating a successor is intended to safeguard continuity in the office of the President in the event the President along with the Vice-President and multiple other officials in the presidential line of succession die in a mass-casualty incident. The procedure originated in the 1950s during the Cold War with its risk of nuclear attack.

Designated Survivor is an American political thriller drama television series, that aired for 3 seasons. Kiefer Sutherland stars as Thomas Kirkman, an American politician named as the designated survivor for the State of the Union address, who suddenly ascends from the position of U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to President of the United States after an explosion kills everyone ahead of him in the presidential line of succession. Kirkman deals with his inexperience as head of state while looking to uncover the truth behind the attack.

Series 1 was excellent with a fast-paced story.  Series 2 was still somewhat ok.  While Series 3 was more about going through the motions!  Worth watching for the 1st series.  For the balance 2 series, can be seen for Kiefer Sutherland.

The Nest – The Nest is a BBC One five-part television drama series where a married couple is unable to conceive and they enter into a pact with an 18-year-old who offers to be the surrogate mother for their baby.

Worth seeing once.  With the language being too British, it will make sense to see it with subtitles😊.  Series came out this year.

Stranger – This is a South Korean crime thriller drama television series. The New York Times listed it their Tenth Best TV Show of 2017. The series was renewed for a second season, which premiered on August 15, 2020.

Synopsis from Wikipedia…

Hwang Si-mok is an exemplary Prosecutor who suffered from hypersensitivity to certain frequencies of sound. After undergoing a corrective surgery, he lost his sense of empathy and lacks social skills. While investigating a murder case, he meets Police Lieutenant Han Yeo-jin, who assists him in solving it. As they begin to unravel the mystery behind the murder, they also discover that their efforts are being continuously foiled as expounding them will also lead to a large corruption scheme between the Prosecutors' Office and a private conglomerate.

In the second season, an ethical dispute arises within the Prosecutors' Office and the National Police Agency, with the former wanting discretionary power over all investigative proceedings while the latter seeks for an autonomous authority. In the midst of their respective agencies' conflict, Hwang Si-mok and Han Yeo-jin team up to independently conduct their own investigation on a concealed case.

Both the Seasons have 16 episodes each of around one-hour duration.  Language is Korean with English subtitles.  A very gripping series.  Worth watching.  I have seen only the first season so far. Will see the second once all the episodes are telecast😊!!

The Fugitive – The Fugitive is an American action thriller television series developed by Nick Santora for Quibi. It is an update on the 1963 television series and the 1993 film, both of the same name, but with new characters.

When a bomb rips through the Los Angeles subway train he’s riding on, blue-collar Mike Ferro just wants to make sure his wife, Allison, and 10-year-old daughter, Pearl, are safe. But the faulty evidence on the ground and “tweet-now, confirm-later” journalism paint a nightmarish picture: it looks to all the world that Mike was responsible for the heinous act. Wrongfully—and very publicly—accused, Mike must prove his innocence by uncovering the real perpetrator, before the legendary cop heading the investigation can apprehend him.

Starring Kiefer Sutherland.  Worth a one-time watch.  It was released as a 8-9 minutes episode totaling 14 episodes.

Cheers till next time!!
