A review from IMDB...
Andhaar Maya is a slow-burn Marathi horror thriller that blends eerie folklore, family feuds, and psychological drama into a tight, engaging narrative. Set in a haunting ancestral wada in Konkan, the series uses its rich cultural backdrop to build tension through rituals like pind daan and unsettling secrets buried in the past.
The standout performance comes from Kishor Kadam, who plays Gonya with quiet intensity and mystery. His presence anchors the story even when the pace drags or the plot dips into melodrama. The series explores themes of greed, guilt, and ancestral trauma-adding emotional weight to the horror.
The cinematography and set design deserve praise for crafting a believable, ominous atmosphere. However, the technical execution isn't always consistent-occasional weak CGI, predictable jump scares, and underwhelming sound design in early episodes slightly take away from the immersive experience.
Episodes are short (~20 minutes), which makes for a breezy watch, but also leaves some character arcs underdeveloped. The narrative picks up after the midpoint and finishes strong with an impactful finale.
My Take – Worth a watch!
The End of the F***ing World – Ran from 2017-2019. 2 seasons. Based on the award-winning series of comic books by Charles Forsman, The End of the F***ing World invites viewers into the dark and confusing lives of teen outsiders James and Alyssa as they embark on a road trip to find Alyssa's father, who left home when she was a child.
A review from IMDB...
17-year old James is not your average teenager. He is convinced he is a psychopath and, as such, plans to go on a murder spree. At school he meets Alyssa, who is also far from average: intense, unpredictable, volatile and cynical. A friendship forms and, due to their unhappy home lives, they run away together. However, what started as a harmless act of rebellion soon has dark consequences, leaving them on the run.
Superb. From the outset the series is great: the characters are dark yet funny and engaging and there is a quirkiness that balances the humour and darkness. Solid plot, with clever developments and sub-plots and great character depth and development. Emotional ending.
One of the main reasons for the engagement and entertainment of the series are the lead performances. Jessica Barden is superb as Alyssa: over-the-top and intense with spot-on mannerisms and superb comedic timing. Alex Lawther plays the straight character to Alyssa's kookiness and does it with aplomb. The chemistry between them is great too.
Rounding it all off is brilliant soundtrack, one of the best you'll hear in a TV series. A great selection of tracks, all of which fit in perfectly with the series.
Season 1 ended so emotionally and poetically I sort of wished there wasn't going to be a Season 2. There is a Season 2, and it doesn't disappoint. Not quite as riveting as Season 1: we already know the main characters now and the plot development in Season 2 is a bit stop-start. Season 1 seemed to have better momentum.
Season 2 is still great though, and possibly even funnier than S1. Plus, we have a new character that will have a profound impact on the story...
My Take – An excellent series!
When No One Sees Us – Came in 2025. Set in Morón de la Frontera, follows Lucía Gutierrez, a sergeant in the Spanish Civil Guard who investigates weird incidents at the first Holy Week float processions as well as the inexplicable suicide of a neighbor there.
A review from IMDB...
I liked the series. Aside from the interesting and well-crafted plot, I like the atmosphere.
The fact that it takes place during Holy Week in Andalusia adds to the dense and somewhat overwrought atmosphere, adding more interest and mystery to the plot.
On the other hand, I liked the theme of the main characters' inner demons, who have to keep up with their professional demands while also struggling with their own personal problems and feelings of guilt.
Overall, I liked it. Some things could be improved, but overall, it was good.
It's wonderful; the details, the setting, are meticulously curated.
The different settings that will appear in the episode, the clothes and decorations, are not lacking in detail and are completely believable.
The plot is rich and intelligent.
My Take – An ok watch!
Adios till next time😊!!
