434. Adventures in Andaman Part 2

We had an early boat ride to catch for travelling to Havelock Island.  So, got up early, finished our morning conveniences.  Previous night itself we had told the pantry to make us sandwiches as we would not have the time to eat breakfast.  We collected the sandwiches and then the car dropped us at the jetty from where the ferry was supposed to leave for Havelock (now called Swaraj Deep).  We had booked a luxury ride and it sure was luxury one!  It was a 90-minute ride in an a/c ferry.

For time-pass the boat had several TV’s showing the boat and its architecture, things to see in Andaman and sports activities that can be done at various places.  They also put on various hit songs on the TV to while away the time.  The ferry had a mini-snack and tea/coffee counter also for those who cannot travel without these comforts😊!  The luggage was stored in the front side of the jetty and the jetty had 2 floors of seating arrangement. Plush seats.

After about an hour, the boat operator said that those who want to dance can come and dance in the area behind the seats.  They belted out Bolly ”wood” and other “wood” hit songs on which people can dance and groove.  Many people utilized this opportunity to dance. Since I have 2 left feet, I whiled away the time watching others dance😊!  Whenever the ferry hit a bump on the water, it made the ferry jump, immediately followed by whoops of noise by the passengers!

Once we reached Havelock, I got the call from the operator who was supposed to take care of our trip for the next 3 days in Havelock and Neil islands.  She asked us to come out of the jetty and reach the parking place.  Once we reached there, she asked us to board a cab and told us that the driver would drop us at the hotel.  After reaching the hotel, which had a beach adjacent, we checked in got settled in our rooms.  We decided to see the beach condition to check if we can go there in the night for some time-pass.  It was quite muddy and we dropped the idea😊! After about an hour or so, the car came back and we headed to explore the Havelock Islands.

Our first place to see was the Kala Pathar beach. The driver dropped us here and said he would be back in 2 hours.  Kala Pathar Beach is a long stretch of white sand with big black rocks beside the blue sea and gets its name from Kalapathar Village.  Near sea is the white sand, then blue and far sea is black.  We spent the 2 hours walking on the beach, clicking photographs and having local snacks there.  It was really a great experience.

Our next stop was the Radhanagar beach. The driver dropped us near a hotel and said that we can have lunch there and then walk some 5 minutes to reach the beach.  Further ahead, the vehicles were not permitted.  We then had a nice lunch at the hotel.  The hotel guy brought all the vegetables that he had and asked us what to cook😊!  We ordered and the food came in about 20 minutes or so.  It was good and filling.  We then headed to the beach.

Since it was somewhat sunny, we decided to sit in the shade before venturing out in the beach. There were several recliners and chairs available there.  It took us some time to get the free ones. In the meanwhile, Sunil, Vaishali and Jayashree went to a nearby emporium and had their “quota” of shopping.  I spent the time catching on some sleep.  I received a call from a photographer asking us to come to the beach for a photoshoot. Apparently, the photoshoot was included in the price for the tour😊

After sometime Jayashree and me went to the beach. Sunil did not want to go to the beach in the sun, so he rested in the chair.  We had a photoshoot in the beach.  Suddenly I realized that Sunil too had to have the photoshoot. I told the photographer that there is another couple and he had to photoshoot them too.  The photographer was under the impression that only we had to photoshoot.  We then returned back and the Sunil and Vaishali went for the photoshoot.

Once the heat dissipated, we all went to the beach.  Had a nice time there. Both Vaishali and Jayashree went inside the water for quite a distance and enjoyed the beach to the maximum.  Sunil and me were happy to stay in the shore and enjoy taking photographs😊!

We were supposed to see the sunset here. But the clouds came in between and we could not get a full view of the same.  We could only see the sun setting in the cloud😊!  Later we came out and had some chaat items. It was quite tasty.  The driver came back and we were then escorted back to the hotel. While driving to the hotel, we had seen a restaurant near the hotel.  We went there walking and had a nice dinner.  We came back to the hotel and thus ended our day 2 of the tour. More to follow in the next blogs…

Adios till then😊!
