Monk – Ran from 2002 to 2009. Adrian Monk is a brilliant former San Francisco detective, who now consults the police as a private consultant while battling with an obsessive-compulsive disorder.
A review from IMDB...
Many sleuths of literature, film or television have idiosyncrasies or handicaps to overcome. It's a common theme that many of them use their personal foibles as an occupational aid. Adrian Monk (Tony Shaloub) is one such character. As a P. I. he has a reputation as a wunderkind, super sleuth, savant, and deductive virtuoso. Despite his OCD, his panoply of phobias, and a lingering emotional wound from the loss of his wife, Trudy, Monk is called in when the police can't solve a murder. He uses his debilitating attention to details to view a crime scene or piece together clues as no one else can. And it is all done in humor.
"Monk" is one of the best comedies of all time. The main character is enchantingly lovable and humorously quirky. Tony Shaloub's performance is perfection. Because Monk has difficulties interfacing with the world, he has an assistant to act as a liaison/aide. That role is occupied by Traylor Howard (as Natalie) or Bitty Schram (as Sharona), depending upon the season you are watching. Both actresses are delightful.
Monk assists the SFPD via Captain Leland Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) and his main aide Randall (Jason Gray-Stanford). These characters become part of the Monk "family" and fan club as the series progresses.
Fans of whodunits will appreciate the solutions which Monk unveils. The writing does not sacrifice worthwhile sleuthing for comedy.
On a personal note, "Monk" was one of my sister's favorite shows. We lost her to MS a few years back, but whenever I watch an episode of "Monk", it reminds me of our shared appreciation for a series that has such a kind and gentle core.
My Take – A wonderful series! Finished 5 seasons. As per reviews the show went downhill from 6th season!
Devika and Danny – Came in 2025. A prophecy unfolds when an engaged Devika meets Danny. And they connect in spirit, literally.
A review from IMDB...
Devika & Danny is a refreshing Telugu web series with a clean, emotional storyline and well-written characters. Ritu Varma delivers a standout performance as Devika, and Surya Vashistta brings charm and depth as Danny. The chemistry is subtle but effective. The story keeps you engaged across all 7 episodes without unnecessary twists. Every supporting role, including Subbu and Jaggi, feels essential. A great example of storytelling without vulgarity or forced drama. Totally binge-worthy and family-safe.
Visually stunning and emotionally rich, Devika & Danny sets a new benchmark for regional web series. The cinematography is a treat, capturing scenic outdoor locations and warm indoor tones. Director B. Kishore handles the narrative with precision, giving enough space to each character. The production value by Joy Films is top-notch. Every frame feels thoughtfully crafted. It's rare to find such a polished, clean, and emotionally intelligent show. A visual and emotional delight from start to end.
My Take – Worth a watch!
Viraatapalem: PC Meena Reporting – Came in 2025. In the 90s, in a remote village named Viratapalem, several young brides died a mysterious death immediately after getting married, which led people to believe that the village is cursed.
A review from IMDB...
The plot sounds decent on paper-serial deaths in a village and an investigation by the protagonist. But sadly, that's where the excitement ends. The screenplay and narration are painfully dull, and the so-called climax twist is so silly, it might just make you laugh out loud-for the wrong reasons.
Production values? Let's just say they went full budget-saver mode. The acting across the board feels like a throwback to outdated TV serials-full of overacting, awkward pauses, and dramatic stares.
The music doesn't help either-it's bad and makes things worse. The direction? Way too amateur, like a film school project that got out of hand.
My take – An ok watch!
Adios till next time😊!!
